- It’s Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and we’re here to remind you that you’re not alone 💜 This week’s theme is Community because we know how important safe and supportive communities are for those recovering, those caring for someone in recovery, and for those to recognise eating disorders signs and support that person towards the help that they need.

Beat will be sharing advice for how to get involved in your community, from how to find your own safe spaces, to how to create one yourself. Get involved with Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2026 today!

West Berkshire Council’s Public Health & Wellbeing ‘Stay Well in Winter’ web page is a great source of support and advice on cold weather health risks including respiratory illnesses (such as COVID-19, flu and bronchitis), cardiovascular risks (heart attack and stroke), accidental injury such as falls, and (less commonly) hypothermia.
This leaflet gives further advice on how to stay well this winter and look out for others that may be more vulnerable to these risks. https://westberks.gov.uk/public-health

This February 2026, Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month, Heartburn Cancer UK is delighted to be delivering a pan-London oesophageal cancer awareness campaign in partnership with London’s NHS Cancer Alliances.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of persistent reflux-related symptoms, support earlier GP presentation, and help reduce late diagnosis across the capital.

Working with these key Cancer Alliances, the campaign focuses on communities at higher risk and areas experiencing greater health inequalities, using clear, consistent messaging to challenge the normalisation of ongoing heartburn and indigestion.

Throughout the month, a wide range of activity will be taking place across London. We’ll be sharing updates as the campaign progresses, so you can follow along and see how this work is being delivered across the capital.

You can read more about the campaign here ⬇️

Children under 6 are now being offered the MMRV vaccine instead of MMR as part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme.

This replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.

Dear Men,

heart attacks do not usually happen suddenly. Heart disease develops over years through raised blood pressure, cholesterol and lifestyle factors.

Many men feel completely well while damage develops quietly. High blood pressure often causes no symptoms at all.

Early checks can identify risks long before serious illness. Evidence shows prevention saves lives and reduces disability.

Small changes can have a large impact when started early.

An NHS Health Check is a simple first step. Your GP or practice nurse can explain your results clearly. Taking action early gives you control over your health.
