Introducing Shama! ⭐

Shama has recently joined us at Ewbank Psychotherapy as an Associate Psychotherapist. She is a passionate and experienced Cognitive Behavioural therapist (BABCP accredited) and Interpersonal Psychotherapist (IPT UK certified), and has achieved a Master's degree in Cognitive Rehabilitation.

She works with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, and low self-esteem. She has experience with long-term health conditions, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to life changes.

Shama works with adults (aged 18+) remotely.

It’s been 64 years since su***de was decriminalised in England and Wales.

Words that link su***de with crime can add stigma. Using the word ‘commit’ goes back to when su***de was considered a sin or crime.

We need to create space for compassion and honest conversations. Let’s use words that help, not harm.

Our brains have evolved to protect us from danger.❗💥They’ve learned to take ‘shortcuts’ in how they assess the world around them so that we can respond more quickly.

The downside is that we tend to fall into ‘thought traps’: little tricks that our mind is playing on us (with the best of intention!). These can distort how we interpret things. 🧐

Everybody will fall into these thought traps at times; it’s part of being human.

The good news? Once you can notice them, you can challenge or distance yourself from those thoughts and see the situation in a different and more helpful way.
