I am just back from presenting at MEAVC 2025 in Dubai. There were many excellent speakers on many diverse subjects; one lecture was on FIP in cats , the disease that up to know has proved to be fatal. I also take a look at how to use pumpkin as a food for dogs and of course another vets tale.

I have just returned from presenting at the second Middle East & Africa Veterinary Congress held at the impressive Jafza One Conference Centre in Dubai. My heartfelt thanks to Dr Margit Gabriele Muller DrMedVet PCC MBA, President of the MEAVC Scientific Committee for her incredible vision for the future of veterinary education and medicine in the region. Thanks also to her and the whole team for the outstanding hospitality afforded to speakers and for bringing so many veterinary professionals together in Dubai. This event provided leading edge veterinary education and gave the perfect opportunity to network with veterinary colleagues from around the world. It was an honour and a joy to have been part of this great event.

This week’s Substack post will come out on Tuesday 19th August as this weekend I am busy getting everything ready for tomorrow’s Scott Creative Arts Foundation (SCAF) Open Day.

This event officially opens this year’s Emerging Artist Award exhibition to the public, showcases our Living Landscape Community Project and features sculptures in the garden created by one of our past finalists, Mouse.

All are welcome to join us between 11.00a.m. and 4.00p.m. on Sunday 17th August. Thanks to Heck! we are using their bus to pick visitors up from Thirsk town centre (in the taxi and bus area of the marketplace) on the hour during our opening times.

Thanks also to Betty’s of Harrogate for donating an amazing hamper for our raffle.
