International Stress Awareness Week is an annual event held from the 3rd – 7th November 2025, dedicated to raising awareness about stress, its impact, and how to manage it effectively. In today’s fast-paced world, stress can feel unavoidable—draining our energy, affecting our health, and taking a toll on our overall well-being. With 79% of adults in the UK experiencing stress at least once a month, it’s clear that stress is a common part of life, however it doesn’t have to be a constant companion.

Why it matters

Work-related stress remains one of the leading causes of ill health at work. In 2023/24, 776,000 workers reported stress, depression or anxiety, accounting for nearly half of all self-reported work-related ill health and contributing to 16.4 million working days lost.

When businesses fail to manage stress effectively it can also result in reduced productivity and higher staff turnover.

The Resuscitation Council UK have today published their changes to the resuscitation and first aid guidelines. Attached is the executive summery of those reviews.

In short some simple changes have been introduced. One being calling 999 for an unresponsive casualty before checking an airway. Another is to use the two-thumb encircling method for chest compressions in infants.

An introduction to the 2025 Guidelines, including details of key changes.

Well that’s it another day under our belts. Today we were at Queen Mary's School topcliffe in our Sessay Community First Responders role to help support Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust in today’s activities. Over 100 children taught CPR and Defibrillator use. A great day was had. The girls were brilliant and there were lots of questions both about CPR application and our roles with the NHS. More potential lifesavers trained. Photos courtesy of queen Mary’s school.

Voluntary Recall Notice: HeartSine samaritan PAD

HeartSine samaritan PAD is a small, lightweight, portable, battery operated Automated External Defibrillator (AED) designed to treat victims of cardiac arrest.

HeartSine Technologies has initiated a voluntary recall for a specific subset of its samaritan PAD models, due to a manufacturing issue that could impair the device's ability to function or cause failure during use.

Our Story

Firstaider Training was established in 2006 as an independent first aid training company offering an alternative to the big Voluntary Aid Organisations who have traditionally dominated the industry. We have been involved in teaching First Aid for over 20 years and our trainers hold the City and Guilds teaching and assessing certificates (PTLLS) qualification. We are a Veteran owned business.

Our trainers and assessors all come from a military and emergency services background and have lots of practical operational and training experience. Our courses are fully accredited to the national governing bodies including OFSTED, the HSE and the UK Resuscitation Council and we are an approved and accredited Qualsafe Awards centre (904452). WE are also an approved First Aid training provider of North Yorkshire County Council.

We aim to offer enjoyable and informative first aid courses and pride ourselves on the fact that we can tailor our courses to fit the demands of your workplaces making the learning experience more relevant.

Whether you are after an accredited qualification, wanting to refresh your skills or require a bespoke course we are able to help you. Please give us a call to discuss your requirements and remember we offer all our training on site with you where possible.
