Neck pain is one of the most common issues we see at Optimus, and it’s rarely “just a stiff neck.”

Often, it’s your body’s way of waving a tiny white flag and whispering, “Hey… a little support here?”

Common Causes We Treat

Posture strain from screens (yes, even “just a quick scroll” daily can cause neck strain)
Stress and muscle tension
Sleeping awkwardly
Workplace ergonomics that weren’t designed by anyone who’s ever had a spine
Joint restrictions or misalignments
Old injuries that decided to make a surprise comeback

How can we help? Our chiropractors and physiotherapists work together to:

Restore joint mobility
Release tight muscles
Improve alignment
Reduce headaches linked to neck tension
Strengthen your postural muscles
Give you practical tools to stay pain free

Think of it as teamwork between your body, our clinicians, and a treatment plan that actually makes sense for your life.

‘’Calf pain gone, thank you, Optimus!’’

Calf pain can sneak up on anyone, whether you’ve sprinted a little too enthusiastically, spent the day standing, cycling for miles or simply woke up wondering why your legs are staging a protest.
Tight, achy calves aren’t just annoying; they can throw off your whole movement pattern and lead to knee, hip, or even back issues if left unchecked.

That’s where physiotherapy works its magic.

A physio doesn’t just stretch your calves and send you home. They assess why the pain is happening muscle imbalance, overuse, nerve irritation, poor biomechanics, or a hidden weakness that’s been quietly plotting against you.

Treatment often includes a tailored mix of hands-on techniques, targeted strengthening, mobility work, and gait retraining.

The goal?

To reduce pain, restore proper movement, and build stronger, happier calves that don’t complain every time you take the stairs or in this patients case, cycle!

Meet your new tag team: the foam roller and lacrosse ball!

One smooths things over, the other digs deep where it hurts (but in the best way). Roll it out, relax, repeat.

These tools aren’t just for post-workout recovery…they help release tight fascia, improve blood flow, and restore mobility.

Regular self-release keeps your body moving freely and reduces your risk of injury between physio sessions.

Practice yoga for mobility and strength!

Did you know that scientific research shows yoga benefits people of all ages, body types and fitness levels?

It can help improve flexibility, strength and even mental health. The best part is it can be done seated, standing or even in bed.

Yoga doesn’t ask you to be perfect, just present.

If you’re struggling with an injury, looking to get back into fitness or want to level up in mobility and flexibility we can help incorporate specific poses into your physio plan.

Knee supports…helpful aid or just a comfy security blanket? 🦵

They can be a great tool when used at the right time:
✅ In the early stages of recovery after injury or surgery
✅ To provide extra confidence when returning to activity
✅ For temporary support during flare-ups or instability

But here’s the catch: long term reliance can actually weaken the muscles that keep your knee stable.
Think of them as a bridge not a forever home.

If you’re unsure whether a knee support is right for you, chat with your physio we’ll guide you to the right support at the right stage.

🏆 Congratulations to Richard!
Huge shout-out to our regular patient Richard for winning the Cook & Harris Trophy at Kendleshire Golf Club, the club championship for handicaps of 12 and under.

Richard works hard both on and off the course, coming in for regular physio sessions to keep his upper back mobile and his swing strong. We’re proud to support him on his journey – and it clearly paid off with this amazing win!

👏 Well done, Richard…a true champion!

One of our runners came to us with a persistent thigh injury that just wouldn’t shift. Alongside treatment, we encouraged them to add yoga into their routine to support mobility, balance, and recovery.

They sent us this photo…and the best part? The thigh pain is now gone.

📌 Did you know? Research shows that yoga can reduce the risk of sports-related injuries by improving flexibility, core stability, and overall body awareness.

Sometimes it’s not just about treatment, but also about the right movement. Yoga and mobility training can make a huge difference in preventing injuries, improving performance, and keeping you moving longer, stronger, and pain-free.

💚 Whether it’s running, hiking, or day-to-day activity — pairing physio/chiropractic care with mobility practices like yoga can be a game changer.

💬 “Matt, thanks for all your help getting me to the start line, I never thought I’d make it here. So grateful for you and all of your help.”

This was a message from a client who had been struggling with chronic lower back pain for a long time.

After a detailed assessment, our chiropractor identified a sacroiliac joint dysfunction that had been causing her persistent pain.

Through a tailored plan of chiropractic care and physiotherapy support, she gradually rebuilt her strength and confidence. The result? She completed a walk/jog event that once felt like a pipe dream.

Stories like this remind us why we do what we do, helping people move beyond pain and get back to the life and challenges they love.

👟 Your shoes matter more than you think.

Whether you’re out for a walk, hitting the trails, or training for a big event, the right footwear can make all the difference. Poorly fitted or worn out shoes can lead to blisters, bunions, ankle instability, shin splints, knee pain and even back issues over time.

Trail running and long distance walking put extra stress on your feet and joints. Supportive shoes that match your foot type and activity level help protect you from injury and keep you moving comfortably for longer.

At our clinic, we often see the impact of “just making do” with the wrong shoes and how much better people feel once they switch to the right pair.

👉 Tip: Replace your running or walking shoes every 300–500 miles (or sooner if the tread and support are noticeably worn). Your feet will thank you!

Not sure what’s best for your feet? Our podiatry team can assess your foot health and gait, and guide you toward the right shoes for comfort, performance, and injury prevention.

We love it when clients send us photos of them, back to doing the things they love!

This patient had been struggling with foot and ankle issues caused by a bunion for quite some time. The pain was limiting their movement and affecting daily life and limiting their hiking - something they loved to do.

With the right podiatry support, we worked on reducing pressure, improving alignment, and creating a plan that supported long term comfort.

The result? They’re now able to move more freely, exercise with less pain, and get back to doing the things they enjoy.

📌 Did you know? Bunions are one of the most common foot problems affecting around 1 in 3 adults and they can worsen over time if left untreated.

If you’ve been putting up with foot or ankle pain for a while, know that change is possible, the right care can make all the difference.
