UV AND YOUR EYES
We all know that UV rays are harmful to our skin but did you know that UV can also affect our eyes. Our eyes are 10x more sensitive to UV then our skin.
The 2 main rays that reach reach us from the sun are UVA and UVB. These rays are linked to development of cataracts, macula degeneration, corneal damage, sunburn and cancer. They can also cause damage to the sensitive skin around the eyes too.
DO WE NEED PROTECTION IN THE UK considering its not hot and sunny like it is abroad?
UV risk is not only there on bright sunny days. It is also present on dull overcast days too. Upto 80% of sun's harmful rays can pe*****te cloud. There is also indirect exposure from wet roads and pavements, reflections from a water source like the sea and Lakes at Cleveleys and from windows. Did you know that 50% of our UV radiation that gets into our eyes is from indirect exposure and this is just as harmful.
HOW CAN WE PROTECT OUR EYES
Whenever we think of UV protection we automatically think of sunglasses. Sunglasses are an excellent choice to provide UV protection but did you know your normal everyday glasses can also give you UV protection by using a UV protection coating that is completely clear and you won't even know its there. This means that when you wear your everyday glasses your eyes are fully protected, giving YOU reassurance and peace of mind that your eyes are looked after.
