A gummy smile occurs when the upper lip elevates higher than usual during smiling, resulting in more gum being visible when the smile is at full elevation.

Targeted medical treatment can help reduce excessive muscle pull, allowing the upper lip to rest in a more balanced position while still maintaining natural movement and expression.
