Anyone else find that they cant wait to get to bed and chill and then that's when your mind starts to work overtime?
Now don't get me wrong I've had some of my best ideas in this time....but also some of my horriblest nights, and there is nothing worse than getting up in the morning feeling like you haven't slept a wink! The next night you try even harder, stress even more about how tired you are and before you know it you are in a cycle of not sleeping and anxiety. Here are some of my top tips to help
- Keep a notebook by the bed. ANY thoughts, things you think you need to do, lists etc.. write them in the book. WRITE it and PARK it. Ie write it and forget about it. I did used to use my phone for this but since reading about the blue light actually waking you up...I don't take my phone to bed anymore.
- Limit Screen time before bed. I know its easy to say, but when my hubby is home we have a screen ban after 8pm...works most of the time. You can also set up Bedtime Mode on your phone so it will actually dim the phone and mute all calls/messages between a certain time. Its like losing a limb to start, but honestly you feel so much better for it. Pick up a book instead.
Sleep Apps - I recommend "Andrew Johnson, Deep Sleep" The more you listen to them, the more it trains your brain to drop off, so they can take a few weeks to work. I sometimes don't get past 5 mins now with this one.
Sleep Sprays - I've tried a few of these and find they work for me. Everyone is different though. I use the Tropic one of course and also temple balm which is fab. The space mask heat masks are also amazing and I could literally use one every night if I could!
Anyway enough of my ramblings, hope this helps someone. xx
