Hello, I'm Rosie and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults and children and young people from the age of 5 years. I believe that we all have the ability to grow, heal and change, regardless of what we have experienced in life. I am committed to providing psychotherapeutic counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, where you can feel supported, listened to and accepted. I believe that everyone is unique and that people are diverse and complex. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting, supportive and caring therapeutic relationship with you in order to create a firm foundation for the work we will do together. I believe that because of our uniqueness, there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. I therefore draw from a range of theories and techniques including person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. I offer short term and open ended counselling, working alongside you at your own pace, in order to support you to uncover the root of your issues and make the changes you require in your life. I have over 20 years experience of working with children and young people and offer counselling for a wide range of issues, from the ages of 5 upwards. I offer shorter sessions for young children, where we can draw, colour and do arts and crafts, whilst we talk.

How do you turn your dreams into reality?

The answer is by having the belief, determination and confidence in yourself to take action.

Believe that you have the potential to accomplish anything and avoid putting limitations on yourself.

Children can struggle to deal with their anger.

When I work with them, we write a Calm Down Plan that helps them to know what to do when they begin to feel angry. Rather than throw blocks when they're frustrated, for example, they might go to a designated calming corner.

I give children little cards with ideas about what to do to distract or ground themselves and to help them feel calmer.

This week is Anti-Bullying week.

Anyone can experience bullying at any age, be it at school or college or in the workplace.

Bullying has a range of negative impacts on our mental health, confidence and self-esteem, many of which can affect us long-term.

This year's theme is: Power for Good - chosen by teachers and children to empower them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

Do you sometimes feel as though you’re not achieving your goals as quickly as you would like?

Building a foundation for success is much like building a house: it takes lots of time and effort. Throughout the journey you will need to be constantly learning and adjusting your path as you go. It is a slow process and your foundation must be strong enough to handle set backs.

So take your time and remember that failing is only failure if you quit.

Ask yourself what you can learn from difficult situations so you will be prepared for the next hurdle.

Just take your time, it will be worth it.

Slow and steady will win the race.

Today is National Stress Awareness Day.

It is so important to know how to recognise when stress is becoming too much for you, and to learn how to manage your stress levels.

There are many ways to manage stress including eating and sleeping well, exercise, connecting with others and doing things you enjoy.

But the most important thing to do is to put in boundaries and to stick to them. It is ok to say no, to put yourself first and to have time out.
