I trained a lovely group of people near Redruth recently and just a couple of days after the training received the email below from Edward who attended.
It reconfirms the need to have some first aid knowledge as you never know when you might have to deal with a potentially serious situation and good training gives you that confidence to do the right thing.

Hi Derek

Just a quick email to say thank you for the training. I had to deal with someone who had collapsed and was unresponsive, fortunately breathing, on Saturday. The ambulance took 45 minutes to arrive so it was a comfort that thanks to the training I felt confident that had his condition deteriorate I would know what to do.

I held a really great EFAW course today for a small business group based in the Somerton area, with the current super weather we were able to hold the course in their garden which was a pleasant change from the usual church hall or village hall.
The business owner also provided home made scones with jam and clotted cream which was a welcome bonus 😀

Would you know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you and was not breathing? Or had stopped breathing due to choking on food?
Many people would go into panic mode and become unable to think clearly or rationally and in effect do very little, others would call 999 and wait for the paramedics / ambulance to arrive.
All the time this panic and waiting is going on vital minutes and seconds are ticking by and there is the increased chance of losing the person if something is not done quickly.
Do something positive TODAY and book on to a recognised first aid course and you will certainly gain the necessary skills to be able to do something towards saving a life....all first aid courses now include training on the correct use of Defibrillators this is THE vital piece of equipment which will help kick start the heart when cardiac arrest has occurred.
Do that positive thing TODAY and book on to a first course at First Aid Training South West where you will learn both Basic Life Support as well as other emergency techniques.
