Wise words from the wonderful people at Spadeworks.
At Spadework we know that Christmas can be a difficult time for some people. If Christmas is a hard time for you, it’s important to remember that you are not alone.
Caroline, our wellbeing lead says one of the most important things you can do is to be gentle and patient with yourself. Know that this is a few days where you could prioritise what you most need for your wellbeing.
Even if people around you are celebrating Christmas you may not feel the same. These feelings are fine. You may find that doing an activity or something to distract yourself will be helpful. You may find reading, taking a walk or learning a new skill are ways to distract yourself.
Sometimes taking some quiet time away from busy activities can help with feelings of anxiety.

When the new year starts, you may like to consider joining an activity group at Spadework. We have regular woodwork, walking and sewing groups as well as gardening groups.
Please e-mail wellbeing@spadework.org.uk to find out more, or ring us to see if these groups could be of benefit for you. Our office re-opens at 9am on 2nd January 2024.
