Are you like me and love the smell of an essential oil blended in a diffuser or a sucker for a scented candle?

Well, new findings show that the use of scent is a promising new way to help deter age related memory loss.
The more types of scent you surround yourself with the better. What a pleasant and easy way to aid your mental wellness!

The sense of smell is directly connected to the brains memory circuits which is why a smell can be a powerful trigger helping you to recollect memories and often can ‘take you back’ to a place or a feeling.

Having lost my sense of smell for a short while following Covid I now appreciate it SO much more than I ever used to.

The full study can be found here

So, do I really need another new scented candle…….ummm I think I now have the perfect excuse 😀

Did you know that Reflexology may support the body with post training recovery and help with healing from injury?

During exercise our amazing body works hard using all our main systems;
muscular, circulatory, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine and lymphatic.

Reflexology helps the body and mind to relax and rebalance all these systems through specialised techniques applying finger or thumb pressure to points on the feet called ‘reflexes’.

These points reflect all the organs and structures in the body and, along with over 200,000 nerve endings in each foot, reflexology techniques help stimulate the body’s own natural healing abilities, boost circulation and lymphatics (great for those tired legs!) and balance the body as a whole.

Relaxation helps to improve focus and concentration plus increase energy levels as well as reduce stress and anxiety- the benefits of all of these can lead to faster reaction times, overall improved performance 💪🏻 as well as improved mood and better sleep.

As well as ALL of these positives, Reflexology FEELS great too!

What a beautiful October morning ☀️
Making the most of some lovely warmth and sun and spending some time reading this fascinating book 👓

‘Why Woo Woo Works’ by David Hamilton Ph.D - is an interesting and thought provoking read, showing the science behind some of todays most popular holistic therapies and practises, some of which have been around for thousands of years, but now there is scientific evidence showing how they can contribute to physical, emotional and energetic healing and health.
People ask me how Reflexology works - it may work though fascial, nerve, muscular or energetic pathways or, most likely, all of these.
It helps at both a physical and emotional level, it rebalances, it relaxes, it helps reduce pain, it enhances body awareness, promotes wellbeing and helps ease the body into a healing state where bodily responses and functions balance ……..
plus it feels great! 🌟

How can you enjoy the benefits of sleep without sleeping?

This graph shared by a client shows how reflexology is an effortless way to enter a state of profound rest
🌟 Her heart rate during the whole of her reflexology session was lower than during her night time sleep! 🥱

This shows in what a deeply relaxed state her body was, yet her mind was still active as she was talking to me during her treatment.

Getting your body into a relaxed or sleep like state for a short space of time let’s the brain rest intensely and relieves stress.
Practices such as reflexology - and other deeply relaxing protocols such as NDSR (non sleep deep rest) - put the body into a recuperative level of deep rest and into the body’s recovery mode, like when we are in slow wave or REM sleep.
In these conditions, growth hormones repair muscle and the parasympathetic nervous system is activated - the rest and digest state - bringing heart rate down and improving cardiovascular health.
Deep rest means the body enters into a restorative state where we can recover, let the body heal and improve the health of the nervous system.

Practices like these help us to gain control on our ability to rest and this shows just how effective taking time to rest can be 🌟
It also shows that reflexology is a powerful way to relax quickly and deeply, helping you enter that healing space of deep calm and rest 👣

DM me to book or to find out how reflexology can help you 🌟
