Everyone deserves access to the care funding they need. Sadly, the reality is that the system is often opaque, complicated, and incredibly difficult to navigate.

Jim Sellars, owner of All About Home Care, knows this all too well from painful personal experience.

Jim's mother, Lycia — the inspiration behind his involvement in All About Home Care — recently passed away after a long and courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Her journey not only shaped our mission to deliver the highest quality care, but also exposed the harsh realities families face when trying to secure vital care funding.

One source of funding, NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) , is not means tested and is intended for individuals with complex needs, often near the end of life. However, CHC is notoriously complex, time-consuming, and difficult to apply for.

As Lycia’s condition deteriorated, she was initially awarded CHC funding — only for it to be withdrawn later without clear explanation or notice. Losing this support added immense stress at an already heartbreaking time. Lycia clearly met the eligibility criteria, and the family endured the exhausting appeals process.

After months of waiting, the decision was overturned and CHC funding was reinstated — but devastatingly, this only happened after Lycia had passed away.

At All About Home Care, we truly understand the emotional and practical challenges of caring for a loved one. Navigating care funding should not be one of them.

💙 Blue Monday – Awareness & Support 💙

Today is often referred to as Blue Monday, said to be the most difficult day of the year. While the idea itself comes from a marketing campaign and isn’t scientifically proven, the feelings behind it are very real.

January can be a challenging time – shorter days, colder weather, financial pressures and increased isolation can all affect mental wellbeing. This can be especially true for the people we care for, and for those working tirelessly to support others.

💙 To our clients and families: please remember that you are not alone. A kind word, a listening ear and compassionate care can make a real difference.

💙 To our incredible staff: your role goes far beyond practical care. Your presence, patience and compassion have a powerful impact. Please also remember to look after yourselves and support one another – it’s okay to speak up if you’re feeling low.

At All About Home Care, we believe wellbeing matters every day of the year. To this end we offer all carers access to AXA Health - Employee Assistance Programme that provides access to free counselling and resources for employees and their immediate family.

Thank you to everyone who helps make even the bluest days a little brighter 💙

We finished off 2025 in style with Jo Bone as the star of the month!

Jo was nominated by 4 different colleagues and has won this award for the second time in 2025!

She has been recognised as being an “amazing carer” “excellent and hard working”, but those are qualities we already know about her. This December she stood out in particular as she used her birthday voucher from All About Home Care to buy chocolates 🍫 for clients at Christmas and even did some emergency plumbing intervention to help a client 👩‍🔧.

Thank you Jo for being you and for putting in such amazing effort and exemplifying our values of Quality and Tomorrow so well!!

As we welcome the New Year, we renew our commitment to what matters most. 💙

At All About Home Care, our mission remains the same —
to provide care good enough for our own families.

As we step into the year ahead, we do so guided by our values:
✨ Quality — delivering care with compassion, dignity, and the highest standards
✨ Tomorrow — always looking forward, learning, and improving so we can offer even better care in the days to come

Thank you to our incredible carers, our clients, and their families for trusting us to be part of your lives. Together, we look ahead to another year of care, kindness, and meaningful moments.

✨ Happy New Year from all of us at All About Home Care ✨

This Christmas Day, we are still here. 💙

While many are gathered around the table, our carers are out in the community — providing comfort, companionship, and care to those who need it most.

Christmas can be a joyful time, but it can also be a lonely one. Today, we are proud to be bringing moments of light, kindness, and reassurance into our clients’ homes across Tonbridge and the surrounding areas.

To our incredible carers working today — thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the care you give, not just today but every day.

From all of us at All About Home Care, we wish our clients, their families, and our team a peaceful and gentle Christmas. 🎄✨

🎄 Nine nights before Christmas… our carers got to go out and play 🎄

Last night we came together for our Christmas party, with over 90% of our incredible team able to gather and celebrate a year well done.

A heartfelt thank you to our clients and their families who made this possible by supporting one another so our carers could all enjoy an evening together. Many then went on to complete care calls.

Caring can often be a lonely role — you don’t always get to see your colleagues — so moments like these are truly precious. They remind us that we are a team, here to support each other every single day… and to have a little fun too!
(Although we must admit, the Christmas crackers beat us with their brain teasers! 🎁😄)

It was wonderful to see how much our team has grown over the past year, and to take a moment to wish our Deputy Manager Danielle Derrick all the very best as she heads off on maternity leave 💕.

Thank you to everyone at All About Home Care, and especially to our Registered Manager Rachael Fox , for steering the ship and showing us the way — even at the Christmas party!

While we don’t shut down for Christmas, we are proud to be there caring for our clients, bringing moments of light at a time of year that can be especially lonely.

💙 Thank you to our carers — today and always.

Thank you Vauxhall Inn, Tonbridge for hosting us so well!
