Beautiful video and such dedication from his parents will lead to a change in law for schools from September 2026 ….

All Paediatric First Aid trained staff already receive approved Anaphylaxis training & have robust Individual health care plans in their settings, the change will be for Schools …. By law they will have back up AAIs (Adrenaline Auto Injectors) held at the school, in case of an emergency.

“Agonal Breathing” is NOT NORMAL BREATHING if someone is making noisy gasps, snoring sounds, panting sounds or the tongue has rigid movements & someone is not responding to you, then this could be the “Early Recognition” they are in Cardiac Arrest ❤️

➡️ Call 999 & Start CPR
➡️ get a colleague or bystander to get an AED, you may be able to use it before the paramedics / first responders arrive

An AED will come from your workplace, your local community or from the Ambulance crew. Do not leave your casualty if you are in your own.

The following video shows agonal breathing, it has been shown for over 20 years now! It is not normal breathing -
the lifeguards continue CPR/AED and he makes a full recovery ❤️‍🩹

It is highly likely that from September 2026 all schools will need to have spare AAI’s in school to further protect those with severe anaphylactic reactions & anyone who may be suffering a severe allergy in the future for the 1st time.

All schools I have worked with currently have robust policies around allergies, all children and staff who have AAI medication (eg EpiPen or Jext - or the nasal spray EURneffy) have individual care plans, with staff being trained how to recognise and react to an anaphylactic reaction, this law will further protect and strengthen everyone’s first aid protocols to preserve life and prevent worsening.

Benedict’s Law, or the School Allergy Safety Bill, is legislation that makes schools safe for the 680,000 pupils in England with an allergy.

A big part of First Aid is the aftercare, looking after the casualty is natural - but sometimes more importantly - looking after the person / people who dealt with the incident! ❤️
The casualty might not remember much, but the first aider & bystanders remember the details, please reach out and speak to someone after a severe incident so you can share your thoughts and come to terms with the incident, the outcomes and the next step of recovery for the casualty and for you 🥰

Everyone affected by cardiac arrest deserves ongoing support and information.

That's why last year in collaboration with Achub Bywyd Cymru / Save a Life Cymru we created the Support after cardiac arrest discharge resource.
