A Warrington business owner has been fined £4,420 after serious fire safety breaches.

The owner continued to use a building for residential purposes, even after Cheshire Fire and Rescue issued a Prohibition Notice. Inspections had found poor fire separation, missing alarms, blocked escape routes, and no emergency lighting.

Ignoring fire safety notices is dangerous and illegal. This case is a reminder that businesses must take fire safety seriously to protect lives.

A manufacturing company has been fined £80,000 after a visiting lorry driver fell from a trailer during loading and suffered life-changing injuries.

During the delivery, the driver was moving cages when one got stuck. He stepped back, fell from the trailer, and sustained a brain injury and multiple fractures.

The HSE found the company hadn’t put measures in place to prevent falls from height. This shows why assessing risks and using proper safety systems is essential.
