π§ New IPAF MEWP Spotter Training eLearning Course - Coming Soon! π·
We're excited to announce that Kentec Training will soon be offering the brand new IPAF MEWP Spotter Training eLearning Course as of the 19th March 2026!
Delivered entirely as self-paced eLearning, this course is designed to improve on site safety and provide effective communication methods during MEWP operations on site.
Approximately 2.5 hours to complete and theory-only, making it quick and convenient to fit around work schedules. Once candidates successfully pass the online theory test, they receive a certificate valid for five years.
What is a MEWP Spotter?
A MEWP Spotter is an additional set of eyes on the ground, responsible for observing operations and communicating with the operator to help safely manoeuvre the platform (very similar to a banksman). This is particularly important when the operator has restricted visibility, helping to identify hazards or obstacles outside their line of sight.
Who should take the course?
The course is ideal for anyone who may assist a MEWP operator with positioning the machine. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) also recommends it for operators, supervisors and site managers, ensuring everyone on site understands the spotterβs role, hand signals and safe positioning.
By introducing a universal method of working between Spotters and Operators, the course helps reduce confusion, improve communication and ultimately make MEWP operations safer and more efficient.
