💡 Are you an older person in Wales providing care for a loved one, friend, or neighbour? You’re not alone – and Age Cymru is here to help.

Age Cymru has launched a brand-new, free and confidential telephone advice line specifically for older carers in Wales. Whether you’re new to caring or have been doing it for years, Age Cymru understands that being a carer can be rewarding but also physically and emotionally demanding. That’s why they’re offering dedicated information and advice tailored to the needs of older carers.

You can contact the Older Carers Advice Line on 03300 564 365 to speak to a friendly adviser who understands your situation. They can help with a range of issues, including access to services, benefits, your rights as a carer and more.

🔗 The advice line is part of a joint project between Age Cymru and Carers Trust Wales, and is funded by Welsh Government. For more information, visit: https://orlo.uk/qVXQY

Subtle Signs of Coercive Control

Coercive control doesn’t always look like yelling or threats. Sometimes it hides in everyday moments. Here are quiet red flags to watch for:

• You second-guess yourself a lot because someone constantly criticizes your choices, feelings, or memory.
• They “keep tabs” on you in ways that feel like care but actually limit your independence.
• You feel guilty for normal things like seeing friends, resting, or having boundaries.
• They make all the decisions, even small ones, and you feel pressure to “go along” to keep the peace.
• Your world slowly gets smaller as they isolate you from people or activities you love.
• Their moods control the room, and you adjust your behavior to avoid conflict.
• They twist your words or deny things they said, leaving you confused or doubting yourself.

Coercive control is real, and it’s not your fault. Support is available. If something in your relationship feels off, trust that feeling and reach out to someone you trust or give the team a call on 01443 400791
