MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.

There are many steps we can take to reduce the chances of a fall during a cold snap, both around the house and whilst out and about.

It’s important to be mindful of the weather conditions before venturing outside.

If you’re going out, try to avoid the early morning when frost is thick or late at night when it’s dark, and remember to dress appropriately for the weather.

Make sure you wear sensible footwear with soles that provide good grip.

Keeping paths and driveways as clear as possible and try to take the bins out during daylight hours.

Here are some other tips to help:
👉Using handrails when out and about and avoid using ramps
👉Being careful when getting in and out of a car as the ground may be slippery
👉Wearing gloves to keep your hands free in case you slip
👉Letting family and friends help with shopping
👉If you’re using blankets when sitting down at home, make sure they’re put away before standing up
👉Letting people know where you’re going and when you’ll be back or, where possible, going with somebody

Whether you’re inside or outside, it’s important to dress warm and wear layers.
