Hello there folks,
I hope everyone had as good a day yesterday as they possibly could have! If it was anything like mine, as always, I ate too much, drunk too much and then ate some more... Like a lot of good things, we do them over and over for years and years, and that's no different to working in a job you enjoy!
Karl Hawkins has worked in the industry for 20 years now as a Crematorium and cemetery assistant, starting his career up in the Midlands, and as of last year, we're lucky enough to have him down here with us.
At the end of each day, Karl takes himself home to his lovely wife Julie, daughter Jessica and their highly strung jack russel named Bella.
The family love to relax by taking long walks together, exploring new areas each time, and then also watching good movies together.
Karl spends any free time after all that sitting listening to music. Reading and writing are one of Karl's biggest passions, especially poetry.
To date, he has several poems published, and continues to write more.
He likes to do a bit of crafting alongside his writing, making allsorts of art out of allsorts of things.
Now, with all of these hobbies, we don't know how he has any spare time left over, but Karl has managed to find some and has just taken up Tai Chi as his ultimate form of relaxation.
It's great having you down here Karl, your old crematoriums loss is definately our gain. Thankyou for the effort you put in here, I promise it's noticed and appreciated.

Well folks, as I'm writing this, the elves are feeding the reindeer and wrapping the last of the parcels!! By the time you read the next one of these, a big man will have been down your chimney, eaten a mince pie and drunk whatever has been left out.... If he's not wearing a red suit, and speaks with a Scottish accent, please send my husband home again, he'll do anything for a free feed!!

One person that we know will definately have food out for santa, is a huge self confessed Christmas fan Rachel............ Our Rachel Adores Christmas and all the traditions that go with it! She also thinks it's a great time of year to indulge in her other love, Disney, while sat with her feet up, tree lights on, dog Duke on her lap and Husband Sam by her side.

Her love for Disney recently helped her decide to have a fairytale wedding at the beautiful powderham castle in May this year, where her husband surprised her with a surprise special guest of honour! Her new puppy Duke!! The three of them spend endless hours walking together nowadays and exploring loads of new places. On the journey to and from these new places though, Rachel "treats" Sam to special car concerts, subjecting him (his words) to her amazing taste in music!

We're ever so glad the Rachel decided to leave her last job in a well known hotel chain, and come to work here. She's an amazing part of the team, is loved by everyone here and although she doesn't know it, we're going to put her love of crime novel reading to good use if our biscuits keep disappearing in the office!!

As always Rachel, it's a huge thanks to you from us. It's great having you around here in the office and we really appreciate all that you do.

Hiya folks!
We had our very successful Christmas service here this week, and things are getting more and more festive by the day. Our naughty Elf is being found in some random places, we're all eating too many mince pies and to top it off, this week's "meet the staff" member Tyrone Savill, is all but ready to fly into Christmas wearing a red hat, only not on a sleigh, on a BMX!

Tyrone really is a jack of all trades, qualified in building, all types of welding and everything funeral related. Growing up in the business, he's worked in every part of saying good bye to your loved ones, from digging the graves, planning the funerals to where he is now, working as a Crematorium and cemetery assistant for us here in Torbay.

Married to his wife for nearly 31 years, they love nothing more than walking their English bulldog and parents labrador together.
In his spare time though, Tyrone is building his dream. Always wanting an American Muscle car, he finally got one and is restoring it piece by piece! He's also 420 pages into writing a book all about the restoration, and we look forward to seeing that, and the car one day.

Like the gift that keeps on giving, we've recently found out that our Tyrone is also a champion!! In the worlds of both BMX and Motocross, the "king of the castle" being one particular title he has won! He's going to bring his trophies down from the attic one day, he just needs to convince his wife to give him wall space or a whole room.

We know that he takes a massive pride in everything he does here for us and he puts a huge effort in every day, because he really cares about giving everyone's loved ones the best possible send off.

Thankyou Tyrone for everything you do here, it is all noticed and greatly appreciated.
