Please note, this page is not monitored for appointment bookings, treatment inquiries, or medical assistance. Our vision is better health and care for all. We are proud pioneers in integrating health and social care nationally. We passionately believe that the best way to care for people is by focusing on what matters to them, putting them at the centre of everything we do and integrating services around them. We believe that care as close to home as possible benefits everyone. Never has our vision been more important. The impact of COVID-19 has not only increased the pressure across all aspects of health and social care, but those who live in our most deprived coastal communities have seen an increasing gap in health inequalities. We provide health and social care services to our people in their own homes or in their local community. We also run Torbay Hospital (providing acute hospital services) as well as five community hospitals, stretching from Dawlish to Brixham. We support around 500,000 face-to-face contacts with patients in their homes and communities each year and see over 78,000 people in our A&E department annually. We serve a resident population of approximately 286,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season. We are passionate about creating a fairer and more inclusive NHS for everyone. We employ over 6,500 staff, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, consultants, and physiotherapists, as well as highly skilled managers, administrators and technical experts. Our people work in a wide range of settings and locations across our communities, depending on their individual role or circumstances. We also have over 800 volunteers who make a difference every day to the people we care for and the services we provide. We were proud to be the first NHS Trust in England to integrate hospital and community care with social care. Now, as a well-established integrated care organisation (ICO) of more than seven years’ standing, we know first-hand the positive impact that working together in partnership with others has on our local population – giving everyone a brighter future.

📆 Join us for the next Medicine for Members event, when our Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Raju Ramesh will discuss the importance of involving people in decisions about their care.

Medicine for Members is a free health talk, hosted by one of our clinicians, and covers a different topic and area of health each session. Raju will be sharing his insights and expertise about shared decision making and can answer any questions you have (although he cannot answer queries about individuals and their care).

✅ The event takes place on Tuesday 28 April in TREC, Torbay Hospital from 5pm, and is also being live streamed for anyone who can't join in person. It's free to attend, but please email tsdft.foundationtrust@nhs.net to confirm your attendance or to ask for a live stream link.

Our governors will also be available to meet informally with any guests who wish to sign up to Foundation Trust Membership. Please join us if you can!

🎉 Congratulations to Suzie Smith, Clinical Lead in the Hand Therapy Team who are recent winners of the Our People Awards ‘we work flexibly’ award!

🗨️ Nominated for her dedication, creativity, and patient-centred care Suzie consistently goes above and beyond to tailor treatment to individual needs. In a busy outpatient clinic, she adjusts her schedule to see urgent patients, delivers mobile bedside splinting, and ensures timely care even outside normal service provision.

Suzie made a life-changing difference to a young ICU patient by creating a custom splint that enabled hand function for an electric wheelchair, transforming long-term independence. She also develops innovative treatment approaches, crafting bespoke exercise tools and games to engage patients when traditional methods fall short.

🧡 Well done Suzie!

🐣🌼 | A huge thank you to the Torbay Hospital Nurses League for hosting their Easter fayre today

For over 80 years, our Nurses League have been nurses caring for nurses and that spirit was clear again today. As well as bringing some Easter cheer, they’re delivering wellbeing boxes to our wards, offering small but meaningful moments of kindness and support to colleagues caring for patients every day.

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity, thoughtfulness and long‑standing commitment of our Torbay Hospital Nurses League — it really does make a difference. 💛

❓️Did you know that the human papillomavirus (HPV) is incredibly common?

Most people will get HPV at some point in their lives without even knowing it. While many types are harmless, some high-risk types can lead to cervical cancer.

That’s why cervical screening is so important. Screening doesn’t test for cancer itself – it checks for high-risk HPV and early cell changes before they become cancer. Finding and treating these changes early can prevent cervical cancer from developing.

We know there are a lot of common misconceptions around cervical screening and we're here to bust them! 👇

Cervical screening saves lives. If you’re invited to attend, please book an appointment via your GP. If you’ve been putting it off, this is your reminder 💙

🌞Sun's out, runners are out! There's some much needed respite from the rain for our amazing colleague, Chloe Harries, who's in training for next month's London Marathon.

🏃‍♂️By day, Sister Chloe helps our hospital patients to get back home for their tea, but when she's not working she's pounding the streets and preparing to take on the biggest race of her life. She'll join 50,000 other runners who are competing in the world-famous race on 26 April, raising money for our Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity.

🎂 As well as training at the weekend and after she’s finished work, Chloe’s also busy organising cake sales and quiz nights to help raise as much money as she can for our charity.

🏆Chloe, we think you're amazing and we want to thank you for all you're doing. You can read more about her challenge and donate at her Just Giving page - www.justgiving.com/page/chloe-harries-1

❤️ Every donation will help fund the big and little things that make a difference to our patients, their families and our colleagues who treatment.

Section 75 partnership agreement: update following partner discussions

Following constructive discussions with Torbay Council and the Devon Integrated Care Board on Wednesday 25 February 2026, partners have reaffirmed their strong and ongoing commitment to working together, while taking the time needed to consider carefully whether a credible joint proposal for resetting the Section 75 agreement can be developed and agreed.

This work will not be considered at the Board of Directors’ meeting on 05 March 2026 and no proposals or recommendations are being brought forward at that time.

Any future decisions would be taken by the Board through the Trust’s formal governance processes, informed by the work underway and ongoing engagement with partners.
