Please note, this page is not monitored for appointment bookings, treatment inquiries, or medical assistance. Our vision is better health and care for all. We are proud pioneers in integrating health and social care nationally. We passionately believe that the best way to care for people is by focusing on what matters to them, putting them at the centre of everything we do and integrating services around them. We believe that care as close to home as possible benefits everyone. Never has our vision been more important. The impact of COVID-19 has not only increased the pressure across all aspects of health and social care, but those who live in our most deprived coastal communities have seen an increasing gap in health inequalities. We provide health and social care services to our people in their own homes or in their local community. We also run Torbay Hospital (providing acute hospital services) as well as five community hospitals, stretching from Dawlish to Brixham. We support around 500,000 face-to-face contacts with patients in their homes and communities each year and see over 78,000 people in our A&E department annually. We serve a resident population of approximately 286,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season. We are passionate about creating a fairer and more inclusive NHS for everyone. We employ over 6,500 staff, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, consultants, and physiotherapists, as well as highly skilled managers, administrators and technical experts. Our people work in a wide range of settings and locations across our communities, depending on their individual role or circumstances. We also have over 800 volunteers who make a difference every day to the people we care for and the services we provide. We were proud to be the first NHS Trust in England to integrate hospital and community care with social care. Now, as a well-established integrated care organisation (ICO) of more than seven years’ standing, we know first-hand the positive impact that working together in partnership with others has on our local population – giving everyone a brighter future.

📣 We need your help to choose Our Volunteer of the Year!

💛 New for 2026, our Volunteer of the Year Award has been created to recognise and celebrate our amazing volunteers.

It shines a light on the dedication, compassion, and commitment of our 400 volunteers, who make such a difference every single day. From offering companionship on wards and in care homes, to providing vital admin support, mentoring service users, supporting nutrition and hydration, and sharing their creativity through music, crafts and fundraising - our volunteers truly help our patients and communities thrive.

Our people have been nominating our volunteers and we were overwhelmed with responses. Our judging panel had a very difficult job of narrowing it down to four finalists.

From Monday 09 February, voting will open, giving you the chance to cast your vote for Volunteer of the Year 2026!

We will be introducing you to the finalists throughout the day and sharing details of how to vote, so keep an eye out! 👀

We were delighted to host Steve Darling MP at our Emergency Department redevelopment site last week.

Phase one opened in December and is already making a huge difference to patients using the waiting area and triage rooms. Phase two will open this spring and will give us a much larger clinical space where people with minor injuries can be treated.

🐾 As ever, Jennie was a huge hit with our colleagues!

🚜✨We’re getting a new road sweeper for our Torbay Hospital site — and it needs a name!

A huge thank you to the wonderful Torbay Hospital League of Friends whose generosity is supporting this investment. It will help our Estates and Facilities teams keep our grounds clean, safe and welcoming.

Colleagues suggested more than 60 brilliant names and we've whittled it down it our top five.

Now it’s your turn — help us choose the winner!

📢 Open letter published today

We’ve shared an open letter with the people of Torbay about the future of adult social care.

It explains openly why we’re reviewing our long standing partnership with Torbay Council, the financial pressures we’re facing, and our commitment to working together as this work continues.

Adult social care matters deeply to our community, and we want to keep everyone informed as the review progresses.

👂️ It's national Tinnitus Week and we're raising awareness of some local support for anyone who needs it.

Tinnitus affects around one in seven adults and it causes ringing, buzzing or noises in their ears. It's often linked to hearing loss or other ear conditions and can cause distress, insomnia or anxiety.

If you suffer from tinnitus, you can get support from Torbay Tinnitus, which meets on the fourth Monday of every month from 10am-noon at Jasmyn House in Midvale Road, Paignton. The group welcomes new members and Bevis Taylor, the group’s coordinator, has vast experience supporting people with hearing loss. Our senior audiologist who specialises in tinnitus often attends to provide clinical advice and support.
You can contact Bevis on 01803 219782, email bevistaylor@nhs.net or visit https://buff.ly/cinDVQP for more details.
