What is a Herbalist?
Medical Herbalists make use of plants whose traditional uses are backed up by modern scientific research and clinical trials. A Qualified Medical Herbalist has a BSc or equivalent in Herbal Medicine, has studied orthodox medicine as well as plant medicine and is trained in the same diagnostic skills as a GP. However, Herbalists take an holistic approach to illness, treating the underlying cause of disease rather than just the symptoms. They are able to prescribe herbal remedies to be used alongside other medication and treatments, and many patients are referred to a Herbalist by their GP for treatment.
Herbal Medicine is suitable for people of any age, including children, who respond especially well to the gentle actions of herbs. Each patient is treated as an individual – a Medical Herbalist recognises that no two patients are the same.
“When I cracked my rib, I was fortunate enough to be given some Pure Relief Balm by Isha. The healing effect was prompt and significant. I had experienced a cracked rib before, so I knew how long it could take to heal, but with this magic balm and a bit of rest, I was able to move with no pain much sooner than previously. Amazing stuff!”

Massage:
I have experience in a variety of techniques and often blend the different styles to suit each individual. I combine gentleness and care with strength and presence to provide the perfect treatment.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is one of the most popular and well-known forms of massage. It was developed by Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish fencing instructor in the 1830’s. Per Henrik Ling had injured his elbows, which he treated successfully with tapping movements. Subsequently he developed Swedish Massage.
“I have so appreciated Isha’s approach to massage over the last three years: she is sensitive, knowledgeable, thoughtful and thorough, but much more than that, I have found that she works at a really deep and intuitive level which creates a profound path towards healing and well-being far beyond what I could ever have imagined.”
Robin, Devon
Swedish Massage is designed to relax and relieve the body and the mind. It eases stress and tension with a variety of techniques such as effleurage, petrissage and tapotement.
I have an ITEC qualification in massage and if you would like to book a treatment please contact me.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to work deeper into the layers of muscle and soft tissue. The nature of Deep Tissue Massage means that it is really effective in treating chronic conditions. The pressure, stripping and friction techniques break down knots and lactic acid crystals and improve circulation to bring relief and relaxation.
“Isha has a gentle presence combined with a deep touch to open up the knots leaving me feeling both soft and invigorated.”
Mothiur, Devon
Many of my clients appreciate my ability to work both gently and deeply, with care and precision. Contact me for more information or to book a treatment.
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga Massage is like a beautifully choreographed dance that invokes the deepest of peace. It is an ancient art which has been practiced for over 2,500 years. It involves a symbiosis of acupressure and stretching techniques, sometimes referred to as ‘lazy yoga’. Thai Massage works along the energy lines, (called Sen lines) in the body. These lines are correlated with Chinese Qi meridians.
“Treat yourself! 3 hours Thai Massage with Isha transported me into a space of relaxation I have only experienced as a child – complete surrender and deep peace. Isha offers a professional service and her massage and client care is superb.”
Doug, Devon
The client wears soft clothes through which acupressure is applied along the Sen lines using thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, shins and feet, with smoothness, rhythm, flow and economy of motion. The pressure releases blockages and stagnation, and increases energy flow in the Sen. When the musculature and soft tissues have been thoroughly treated, the stretching begins. The client reclines in comfort while the practitioner does all the work, gently manoeuvring the body into a series of comfortable and clever postures. These movements stretch the muscles more than is possible unaided, and the benefits exceed advanced yoga.
Thai Massage can be effective for a range of conditions
I practice Thai Massage in a gentle yet deep and effective way, tailoring each session to suit the specific needs of the individual. Thai Massage can be practiced in a gentle way, some stretches are not suited to everyone.
I have achieved diplomas in Thai Massage, Thai Table Massage, Thai Foot Massage. I have been trained in Tok Sen, and I have also been trained to teach Thai Massage. The courses that I teach are certified by my school the Thai Massage Chiang Mai (TMC) school.
