Bake Off may be off your screens for 2025 - but that didn't stop us having a go ourselves!

Recently, students from each of the Pathways banded together to bake their own unique creations for the judges! It was great to get everyone involved and see some of the incredibly innovative designs, which included fairy lights, tinsel, pinecones and hand-crafted icing sculptures! 🎄🎂

Today, we're thinking back to some of the incredible things we have been able to do in 2025 - and one of the most incredible times was getting to see some of the students at Lifeworks take part in the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge 🩷

We continue to be so proud of the amazing achievements of the students who persevered and took on the challenge with determination and a smile on their faces!

Roll on 2026 💪🩵

This week has been super busy across Lifeworks College for our students and supported interns as we celebrated The Power of Specialist FE Awareness Week! 🩵

This week is important to us as we get to celebrate all of the learners, staff and colleges who provide amazing further education and other services for young people, helping them develop their skills and get ready for the next phase of their life!

Across the college this week, we have been doing baking, crafting and other activities, so here are a few snaps of some of our students and supported interns in their work placements! 🩷🩵

Recently, we were so grateful to receive an incredibly generous donation from some amazing supporters of Lifeworks.

Sue and John, grandparents of Lifeworks ex-student, Tom, who is now in supported employment, donated more than £1,200 after raising money at their birthday parties! We are so incredibly thankful for their generosity and continued support.

The students and staff at Lifeworks all gathered at our Tuesday morning cafe as John and Sue presented their donation, and students showed their thanks with a rather large card they had created!

On Saturday, at our Saturday Young Adults club, we started getting festive! 🎅🏼

Throughout the day, we had a rotation of festive-themed events, including gingerbread making, which resulted in some fabulous gingerbread families, stars, and even a Mickey Mouse! 🐭

With a range of activities on offer, we saw lots of fantastic creations, including some dried fruit and flora garlands, wooden tree decorations (with plenty of glitter), and some quirky model Father Christmas and Snowmen!

When we were taking a break from crafting, we were busy with other activities, including Uno and Pool! 🎱

For those who chose not to go on the annual residential in Cornwall last term, we had some fun a bit closer to home!

Throughout the week we enjoyed lots of activities, so here’s a little break down of the week:
The students enjoyed baking cakes and biscuits for consumption in our Community Café the next day. As a treat following the baking, we all headed into Paignton for a round of crazy golf. On his first swing, one student got a hole in one after the ball went through a tunnel and spinning into the hole. A brilliant shot. All students enjoyed their round of golf. ⛳️

On request, we headed to Torquay for 10 pin bowling and keen to get strikes. Each student got at least one strike, whilst others got two or three. Thereafter, we headed to a beach in Paignton for a Sound Bath. This was different to what the students are normally use to at college for their Sound Therapy. Through relaxation and breathing exercises, we all enjoyed the sea air and sounds. On the Paignton Green, we all sat in a circle, listening to the vibrating sounds of a Tibetan Singing Bowl and physically feeling it vibrations on our backs. This was an amazing afternoon and the students enjoyed the experience of relaxation and meditation.

SoundArt Radio were invited back into the college to do some experiments on the sounds and enabled the students to record their experiences. In a field, a student used two planks of wood and walked to the far end of the field, whilst the others watched. They were amazed that they could see two pieces of wood being banged together and hear the sound two or three seconds later!

To end the week, the students visited Woodlands and the National Marine Aquarium Plymouth. At Woodlands, the students enjoyed the experience of the Water Coasters, sliding down the rapids. One student even dragged every member of staff onto the ride with him, making a total of 9 rides. He enjoyed every ride down and was not bothered about getting wet. 🌊

At the aquarium, the students were mesmerised by the number of fish within the tanks and we were thrilled to see some sharks, stingrays and other tropical fish. Everyone enjoyed the experience so much that we went round twice!🐟🦈

In all, a brilliant week full of fun activities!
