Ahead of our Jubilee Walk in May, we recently set our sights on practising so that we're prepared for the real thing!

Our Jubilee Challenge team went for a lovely practice walk. We ticked off a few key points, including Smallcombe Rocks , Hound Tor, and Holwell Tor. In total, we walked 7 miles in 3 hours 45 minutes (including our lunch break!), and navigated through some fog too!

We have very kindly been gifted some new jackets from the Moor Boots Grant by the Dartmoor Preservation Association, which the students were pleased to wear on the moor. A big thank you to the Dartmoor Preservation Association!

During Careers Week, Lifeworks students got a taste of life down with MVV Environment Devonport as we visited their incinerator!

This was such a brilliant trip, and the students loved seeing the bin lorries, the actual incinerator and had a great time learning about how it all works!

We picked up lots of great facts, and one that has really stuck is that 100 lorries arrive at the incinerator each day, and they create enough power to supply 37,000 homes - how incredible!

To celebrate World Book Day today, students brought their favourite book into college and accepted the challenge of reading their book in the most unusual place! 🤔😊

It was good fun, and we managed to get a few snaps where students found some new innovative places to read around Dartington!

Due to the consistently wet weather and cold temperatures, getting outside to the Sensory Garden in Totnes had been a little more difficult in February. Instead, students have been working hard and using their creative skills in the art room at college, making items to be used in the gardens! Each item crafted has included recyclable products from home! ♻️

Everyone selected their own item to craft, and we enjoyed getting stuck in! Some examples of items made included a cress hedgehog made from a plastic bottle, lanterns made from milk cartons, and bug hotels made from tin cans and wood sourced by students last year in preparation for this project! 🪵🐛

One student decided to make planters for the windowsill to grow Basil and Rosemary, and they are sitting proudly in the classroom and growing nicely!

We're looking forward to seeing some sunnier days and getting back in the Sensory Gardens 🌞🪏🪴

We are delighted to invite young people aged 11-25 with a learning disability to sign up to our Easter Holiday Programme for a week of fun, engaging and enriching activities which include:

Monday 13th April - Easter Egg Hunts at Saltram House 🪺
Tuesday 14th April - Sound Therapy, Crafts and Games 🧶
Wednesday 15th April - Plymouth Aquarium 🐠
Thursday 16th April - Common Flora 🪴

Fully inclusive fees for the full programme are as follows:
- £80 per day (staff ratio 1:4)
- £135 per day (staff ratio 1:1)

This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to socialise, build confidence and enjoy new experiences in a supportive environment. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a fun and engaging Easter break.

Every Monday, like clockwork, whether rain or shine, students participate in some tennis coaching as part of our health and wellbeing at college.

These sessions not only build on our hand-eye coordination, communication skills, and teamwork, but also are a brilliant way to support proprioception (the unconscious ability to sense body, movement and force - for example, helping us touch our nose with our eyes shut).

We love these sessions and are very thankful to Totnes Community Tennis Club, who have been incredibly supportive of Lifeworks College for years 😊

It's been brilliant to see everyone's involvement and skill level increase each week. Who knows, we might have the next Wimbledon Champion amongst us?! 🎾

❤ A permanent Activities Support Worker to join Day Services in Dartington, working Monday-Friday 09.30-16.30, all year round. £22,932.00 per annum.

🧡 A permanent Learning Support Assistant to join Lifeworks College in Dartington, working Monday-Friday 08.45-15.40 (apart from one day a month for a team meeting, which will be 08.45-16.20), 38 weeks per year. £19,057.51 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay).

🩵 A permanent Finance Assistant to join our Central Services team in Dartington, working 08.30-16.30, all year round. £25,057.50-£26,231.01 per annum.

💜 Bank Support Workers for Sesame, our 4-bed adult residential home in Torquay. £14.12-£14.29 per hour for day shifts and £16.47-£16.64 per hour for night shifts (including holiday pay).

💛 Bank Activities Support Workers for Day Services in Dartington. £14.12 per hour (including holiday pay).
