On Sunday, two of our volunteers, Judy & Paul, went along to The Watling St Village Christmas Market with a selection of lovely handicrafts: Woodwork items made by Paul, felted pocket bears made by Judy, pottery items made by Judy’s sister, Helen, and acorn decorations made by one of our community gardeners, Zoe. We’re very grateful to them all for their hard work and to Watling St. Village for having us. Thank you to everyone who came along and bought things; they managed to make £146.00.

We would like to say a big thank you to a wonderful group of people (Ruth, Sarah, Aaron, Reece & Maddie), who visited the café this week bearing gifts. For many years now, in the run up to Christmas, they have turned December into ‘24 Days of Giving’, supporting local charities and voluntary organisations through practical donations, as well as thanking everyday heroes by presenting them with tubs of Cadbury’s Heroes chocolates. This year we were fortunate to have been chosen by them as one of their charities to support, not only with their kind and generous gifts, but through highlighting the work we do. Thank you so much all of you! Our 24 Days of Giving -2025

We are excited to announce that we will be joining in with this initiative and having a pop-up on Thursday 11th December. Please come along and support our local businesses for this Christmas shopping event and call in to see us too. Once the café closes at 3pm for the usual drop in service, we will open up again serving a complimentary Christmas punch and mince pies and selling a variety of home made and hand-crafted items made by our lovely volunteers and visitors. We very much hope you will join us!

We are pleased to announce that as of today Emma Collard has taken over from Jemma as our new Wellbeing Assistant. Regulars to the café may know Emma, as she has been volunteering with us for about a year.
Jemma is still with us, but will now focus on her role as charity manager and Emma will work alongside Jan in the café. Jan will continue to be in the café on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Emma will be there on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a view to possibly adding Fridays at some point in the future. Her first day in her new role will be this coming Wednesday, 3rd December.
Welcome to the team Emma, we are delighted to have you on board!
