In addition to the cookery course run by Cooking Good, part of the grant from the Northamptonshire Community Foundation was allocated towards the creation of a recipe booklet, containing a selection of comforting dishes submitted by the staff, volunteers and visitors to the café. The booklets are being sold to raise funds for the ongoing work of renew169 and can be purchased from the café at a cost of £5 each.

What a super afternoon in the café today, with a lovely festive, party feel! Sally had been baking and she and Jan brought in lots of lovely goodies for us all to share for lunch. Phil was celebrating his 95th birthday and was surprised with a card from all his friends at renew169, as well as a fabulous picture full of memories, which Richard had had made for him. There was lots of singing (in English and in Spanish, thanks to Anita) and Pete led us all in some carol singing. It was all very jolly and lots of fun was had by all!

We want to say a great big thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Christmas Shopping Event yesterday. We were delighted that it raised a further £181.50 towards the ongoing work of renew169. We forgot to take any photographs during the event, so here’s a picture of Jemma, Amanda and Anne enjoying a sneaky cup of festive punch before we opened!
