In memory of our loved pets...

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this last battle can’t be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don’t let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.
When the time comes,
Please, let me go.

Take me to where my needs they’ll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don’t grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
We’ve been so close these 17 years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears

Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

When I'm Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile

Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun

Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day

Then forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay

And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best

Today, water joins cremation and burial as a third funeral option available to families in Scotland which will be known as hydrolysis.

The launch of legalisation by the Scottish Government paves the way for more choice and personalisation of someone's final goodbye.

As we await the first facility to be built, families interested in finding out more can read our blog on what Hydrolysis is, the environmental impact and reasons to choose it.

An Ode to Mum

She was only a girl when she became a “Mum,”
Five small hearts beating as she held her childs hands.
Still learning herself, navigating this so called life,
That came with some shouting, its troubles and strife.

She had left Kirkconnel, and the fractured wounds.
Some wounds made her quiet,
Some walls she couldnt climb,
But she always hoped, she would, at some point, find her time to shine.

Love was there —
But sometimes she didn’t know how to speak.

Now her five children stand in separate silence,
Grief building bridges they have yet to cross
Words sit heavy between them,
Unsaid, but understood, trying to navigate this loss.

She struggled.
She stumbled.
She stayed.

And when her breathing softened quietly into silent peace,
It was love that held her —
Gentle and forgiving, whole at last.

A daughter
A sister
A mother.
A friend
A wounded woman.
Our Mum and Nana Flo
Finally at peace, where pain cannot follow or bring harm.

And everlasting love, at last, calls Flora by her name,
and she is welcomed into God's open arms once again.

See you later Alligator
