Troon Therapies

Troon Therapies Be extra kind to yourself. You have been dealing with the emotional impact of these past several months. Negative emotions can linger and re-emerge for us all.

As a Trauma-Informed Somatic Practitioner, my therapeutic approach to health and well-being is deeply rooted in over 25 years of experience, and enriched by a diverse range of healing modalities. It is normal to have lots of different feelings, from worry to waves of panic and feelings of anxiety. Our brain wants predictable activity and close contact so we can relax our vigilant nervous system. Social and physical distancing has interrupted this predictable activity and close contact. As a result, we are experiencing emotional numbness and vulnerability. Practices and body-based approaches that manage stress reactions in the moment are crucial for us right now. A body-based approach, through embodied, trauma informed yoga and attuned touch, is important for our mental health and well-being. It is essential that we foster counter emotions and create a safe space within ourselves. If you have felt a negative impact on your mental health and physical well-being, please get in touch for one of my, 'Embodied Escape' packages. My therapeutic approach to health and well-being is very much informed by my twenty years experience as a bodyworker, energy healer and embodied, trauma informed yoga teacher, supporting individuals, families and groups who have experienced high levels of stress, depression, anxiety and trauma.

And in she came...πŸˆβ€β¬›

After two years of being fed with barely more than an upward glance, my big stray cat came in today. Twice.

In trauma informed training and practice we use FIVE P's

Patience
Precision
Practice
Persistence
Perserence

It's been this practice that won my big cat over.

Your human body has 650 muscles, and produces 85% of your body heat by shivering to warm up. Your eye muscles are the busiest, performing thousands of movements daily. The largest muscle we all sit on - gluteus maximus, and the smallest muscles is the middle ear (stapedius). But the strongest muscle is the jaw with it's ability to exert over 200 pounds of force. Walking uses 200 muscles and the more you walk, the longer your life expectancy. Smiling uses up to 17 muscles. Practising an 'inner smile' technique uses facial expression and visualisation to direct healing energy to your organs and mind.

For your body to heal you need to be in a healing state. A reactive state is driven by the stress response, whereas a healing state involves a state of internal harmony. For emotional healing you need rest, calm, and stillness. This allows you to process past experiences and to recover from prolonged stress.

For our body to heal, we have to be in a healing state.
