April is Stress Awareness Month, a national campaign held every year to raise awareness of the causes and solutions to stress and improve wellbeing across communities
This year’s theme, , reminds us that even small actions can create powerful transformation. When we talk about stress, one of the biggest hidden factors is isolation. Many people feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsupported — and that’s where community makes a difference.
At Trowbridge Service Users Group, we believe that connection is a form of healing. Research shows that social support can buffer stress and improve mental health outcomes, providing emotional reassurance, shared understanding, and a sense of belonging
Being part of a community group can:
✔ Reduce feelings of loneliness
✔ Improve confidence and self-efficacy
✔ Create safe spaces to talk openly
✔ Build resilience through shared experience
This aligns with the principles behind :
Self-efficacy – believing you can influence your wellbeing
Relational connection – healing through relationships
Neuroplasticity – your brain can change through positive experiences
Even attending one session, having one conversation, or sharing one story can start that change.
You don’t have to face stress alone. Community is powerful. Together, we can create a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported.
