STOP DIETING AND START LOSING WEIGHT FOR GOOD 😊

When I speak to clients I hear so many horror stories, extreme diets, food restrictions, stressful daily calorie counting, excessive exercise regimes…. Truth is you could be doing more harm than good! Sure you lose weight in the short term, but have you achieved your goal?

How to spot a fad diet 🧐

👉🏾Recommend missing meals, replacing food with shakes or surviving on extremely low calories 😾

👉🏾Cut out entire food groups for no good reason 😿

👉🏾Suggest you should eat the same meals over and over 🥱

👉🏾 Offer no supporting evidence apart from personal success stories 😹

👉🏾Are selling you expensive products or
supplements, often with no published ingredients 💰

👉🏾Are being sold by someone with no qualifications to offer / support you with nutritional advice 😾

👉🏾Have recommendations based on a single study, testimonials or unrealistic amounts of a food e.g. chilli 🤢

👉🏾recommend the same diet for everyone without accounting for specific needs 🙄

👉🏾are based on a ‘secret’ that doctors are yet to discover or ‘don’t want you to know’🤫

👉🏾Offer fast unrealistic results 😲

What can you do instead?

👉🏾 Eat 3 meals a day, no longer than 5 hours apart. 🥘

👉🏾 Increase fibre slowly, choose wholgrain foods 💩

👉🏾Drink more water, check your urine is almost, but not quite clear when you wee this is a sign of good hydration 💦

👉🏾 Avoid sugar and processed foods 🖐🏾

👉🏾Eat a balanced meal, include lean proteins, healthy fats and whole grain carbohydrates, vegetables or salads with every meal.🍱

👉🏾Learn to tune into your bodies hunger/fullness signals, eat when you are definitely hungry and stop when you are definitely full 🤤

👉🏾Find a type of exercise you enjoy, it doesn’t need to be boot camp, walking a little more is a great start 🚶🏿‍♀️

👉🏾Be aware of stress, laugh, socialise, do things you love, learn to say no and take guilt free rest 💃🏼

👉🏾Sleep, have a regular bedtime ideally around 10pm try to get a good 8 hours a night. If you are struggling with sleep there’s lots than can be done to help, get in touch. 😴

If you suffer with hormonal symptoms, this could be due to a build up of estrogens…

Here are some symptoms of high estrogen / estrogen dominance

▪️bloating
▫️swelling and tenderness in your breasts
▪️fibrocystic lumps in your breasts
▫️decreased s*x drive
▪️irregular menstrual periods
▫️increased symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
▪️mood swings
▫️headaches/ migraines
▪️anxiety and panic attacks
▫️weight gain
▪️hair loss
▫️cold hands or feet

Inflammation ….

We need it! A small amount is necessary to heal and build resilience, however excessive inflammation (commonly starting in the gut) can lead to immune imbalance, and often cause allergies such as asthma or even disease.

I highly recommended reading this article if you suffer from inflammation … or inflammatory diseases

Omega 3 is also a fabulous food source known to help reduce inflammation, alongside reducing crap food and toxins.

Toxins come in all shapes and forms … I recommended trying to choose organic where you can, sustainably sourced, grass fed meat, and stop using chemicals on your skin and hair. Your skin is a giant sponge!

Right now we are constantly spraying / anti bacing and inhaling or ingesting extra toxins, be aware of this next time you spray these into the air and inhale the particles … I try to choose a chemical free cleaner and where a mask if I’m spraying.
