STOP DIETING AND START LOSING WEIGHT FOR GOOD 😊
When I speak to clients I hear so many horror stories, extreme diets, food restrictions, stressful daily calorie counting, excessive exercise regimes…. Truth is you could be doing more harm than good! Sure you lose weight in the short term, but have you achieved your goal?
How to spot a fad diet 🧐
👉🏾Recommend missing meals, replacing food with shakes or surviving on extremely low calories 😾
👉🏾Cut out entire food groups for no good reason 😿
👉🏾Suggest you should eat the same meals over and over 🥱
👉🏾 Offer no supporting evidence apart from personal success stories 😹
👉🏾Are selling you expensive products or
supplements, often with no published ingredients 💰
👉🏾Are being sold by someone with no qualifications to offer / support you with nutritional advice 😾
👉🏾Have recommendations based on a single study, testimonials or unrealistic amounts of a food e.g. chilli 🤢
👉🏾recommend the same diet for everyone without accounting for specific needs 🙄
👉🏾are based on a ‘secret’ that doctors are yet to discover or ‘don’t want you to know’🤫
👉🏾Offer fast unrealistic results 😲
What can you do instead?
👉🏾 Eat 3 meals a day, no longer than 5 hours apart. 🥘
👉🏾 Increase fibre slowly, choose wholgrain foods 💩
👉🏾Drink more water, check your urine is almost, but not quite clear when you wee this is a sign of good hydration 💦
👉🏾 Avoid sugar and processed foods 🖐🏾
👉🏾Eat a balanced meal, include lean proteins, healthy fats and whole grain carbohydrates, vegetables or salads with every meal.🍱
👉🏾Learn to tune into your bodies hunger/fullness signals, eat when you are definitely hungry and stop when you are definitely full 🤤
👉🏾Find a type of exercise you enjoy, it doesn’t need to be boot camp, walking a little more is a great start 🚶🏿♀️
👉🏾Be aware of stress, laugh, socialise, do things you love, learn to say no and take guilt free rest 💃🏼
👉🏾Sleep, have a regular bedtime ideally around 10pm try to get a good 8 hours a night. If you are struggling with sleep there’s lots than can be done to help, get in touch. 😴
