VENOUS ULCERS

Varicose Veins are not simply a cosmetic issue. This patient had venous skin changes resulting in Venous Ulcers. Their scan revealed an underlying problem with one of the main superficial veins, which is the most common pattern of Varicose Veins we see. Rob treated her veins with laser (EVLA) under Local Anaesthetic, as a walk-in, walk-out Day Case. Here you can see the results 6 weeks later with the ulcers healed and skin changes resolving. Ever wondered why varicose veins cause aching, heaviness, and swelling? The thermal image underneath this post proves it.

Look at the person in the centre—even through jeans, you can see the outline of a varicose vein in the thigh. The bright area shows blood pooling in faulty veins, instead of flowing properly back to the heart. This trapped blood increases pressure, leading to discomfort and long-term damage.

We are very grateful to this delightful patient who has allowed us to share their before and after treatment images. They had extensive varicose veins with pre-ulcerative skin changes. They were treated as a walk-in, walk-out procedure under local anaesthetic. To treat these extensive veins we used a combination of Laser, superficial vein removal (phlebectomy) and foam sclerotherapy. The advantage of offering multiple treatment modalities is that it enables us to achieve this type of excellent result, even in difficult cases.
