Measles can be serious, 1 in 5 children may need hospital care. Watch for symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, sore red eyes, followed by a blotchy rash starting on the face.

👉 If your child shows symptoms, keep them home and call your GP or NHS 111.
👉 Check their vaccinations. Two doses give about 99% protection.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s routine school age vaccinations, please call Kernow Health on 01872 221105 or 01392 342678.

💉 The HPV vaccine is one of the most effective cancer-preventing vaccines available.

HPV vaccinations are offered to boys and girls in school from year 8. The vaccine protects against HPV infection and its complications, including cervical cancer, ge***al warts, some head and neck cancers, and ge***al cancer.

The latest data from UK Health Security Agency shows 1 in 4 school leavers are unvaccinated against HPV - missing out on vital protection against cervical cancer for young women and several other HPV-related cancers for both sexes.

Read the report here:

You can check the status of all your child’s vaccinations by contacting us. Remember, it’s never too late to catch up on missed vaccinations.

The HPV vaccine is recommended for children aged 12 to 13 years old and helps protect against human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that's spread through skin contact.

Most types of HPV are harmless. But some types are linked to an increased risk of certain types of cancer, including pe**le cancer and mouth cancer. HPV can also cause ge***al warts.

Our school-age immunisation team is responsible for the planning and delivery of the school-age immunisation programmes in Cornwall and Devon. Vaccination programmes are primarily carried out in schools, although we also offer clinics in other community settings for home-educated children and other children depending on individual need.

When a friend or relative is ready to leave hospital, home is often the best place for them to rest, recover and regain independence.

Getting them home at the right time supports their recovery and helps keep hospital care flowing, as even short delays in discharge can add pressure to busy hospital wards.

If possible, make plans early in the day, with the aim of getting home by lunchtime. To help with this, you might be entitled to a one-off personal health budget to pay for extra support or equipment needed when you at home? Ask a member of staff on the ward to find out more about this.

Every hour matters. Avoidable delays in discharge - even just a few hours - add significant pressure to our hospitals. When your relative is medically fit, bringing them home before lunch helps their wellbeing and allows us to care for others waiting for a bed.

Please make arrangements early in the day so we can keep care flowing for everyone who needs it.
