We love a creative story extension and Jane Austen spin offs are full of them.
This one is gorgeous. Janice Hadlow's book is a witty and warm homage to the original (with only slightly negative presentations of the other sisters and Mrs Bennet 🤣) but more importantly a tale of its own. In fact, once the story extends out from the original, it is much more captivating, as we cheer for the ugly duckling Mary to grow in confidence and become a beautiful swan.
Are you loving the television adaptation?
In The Other Bennet Sister, beautifully dramatised, Mary takes centre stage and is perfectly cast.
