🌿📚 A big cheer for libraries across the South West – and a huge well done to Cornwall! 📚🌿
This summer, 50,454 children took part in The Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge across the South West

✨ In Cornwall:
📖 6,975 children aged 4–11 took part (that’s 15% of all children in Cornwall!)
👶 873 children aged 0–3 joined in – more than any other authority
📚 52,515 books, eBooks and eAudiobooks were read
🏅 5,434 children completed the challenge – a fantastic 68% completion rate, higher than last year!

These results show just how much libraries inspire reading and support families across our communities. Huge thanks to all the staff who worked so hard and to everyone who took part 💛

After the storm, it's a gorgeous day.
Get outside if you can (avoiding overhanging branches obviously).
Reconnect with the rural.
This book is fascinating in showing our history and connection with nature through everyday objects left behind.

Be warned.
It's going to be a weepie😿(that's not a spoiler).
But it's a fantastic book that took us all by storm when it came out in 2020.
Plenty of copies on the shelves if you want to read it first.
And the adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's wonderful book sounds brilliant.
