Mental Health Awareness Week, spearheaded by the Mental Health Foundation in the UK, will take place this year from 12th to 18th May. The theme is "Community". In Tunbridge Wells, there will be a special (free) event taking place on Tuesday 13th.

Starting the process of creating a Wellbeing in a local park today.... First baby steps: looking at the possibility of getting a Community Grant and what are the practicalities involved in creating a space in a public recreational area. Often in life, we have good ideas or intentions but the ex*****on may be hampered by small, numerous and tedious obstacles. Focusing on the end game will help our resolve and our resilience. Gazing into the distance, at some favorite photos or paintings for a few minutes can help gather your thoughts and act as a little breather before resuming your duties or activities for the day.

How fascinating are our bodies? 7 senses! In Sophrology, we explore the Body consciousness through breathing, simple exercises and visualising. I was aware of the sixth sense, proprioception which is the information that reaches my brain about my posture, external stimuli (especially facial expressions) but also where my body is in space - this is the sense which allows you to scratch your nose with your eyes shut. Equilibrioceptioin helps you stay upright. I will make sure to include the notions of interoception in future sessions (per the article, interoception is the information that reaches the brain about what is happening in the organs).
