Taking time out in care isn’t always simple. Visits continue, routines matter, and our customers remain our priority - but moments to pause, connect and celebrate are so important.

This week, our care team were able to come together for a well-deserved Christmas get-together: good food, plenty of laughter and a few rounds of bowling. A rare moment to slow down, reflect on an incredible 2025 and look to an exciting year ahead.

Care work is rewarding, but it’s also demanding. We often talk about the emotional labour, the physical intensity and the deep responsibility our Care Professionals carry each day. What we talk about less is the importance of stepping back - even briefly - to acknowledge the people behind the uniforms.

Meet Nikki one of our wonderful Care Professionals: Nikki’s journey into care is as unique as it is inspiring. With qualifications in childcare and experience as a nail technician, she has always loved working with and making them feel cared for.

As a mum to four teenage daughters, Nikki was looking for a role that balanced family life while giving her the chance to make a difference, which lead her to joining Braeburn Care. Her caring nature and bubbly personality made care the perfect fit and a new avenue to use her skills in supporting others.

Last night, we attended the 2025, where we were honoured to be shortlisted across three categories.

We are incredibly proud to share that our CEO, Harriet Smith, was recognised as a highly commended finalist for Businessperson of the Year - a powerful milestone for our team and a reflection of the heart, commitment and purpose behind Braeburn Care.

Harriet leads not only Braeburn Care but also , serves as a trustee for , and manages a growing property portfolio… all while being a devoted mum to her three-year-old daughter.
