I'm really pleased to say that I was told just before Christmas that I am to receive an award from the Metropolitan Police for helping at an incident early last year where I attended a School where a pupil was in cardiac arrest. I had a 'GoodSam' alert on my phone and was the first medic to arrive on scene. Thankfully, in this case we had a good outcome. I get to go to an award ceremony next month to get a BCU Commander's Award and an award fro the Royal Humane Society.

The GoodSam app is a great innovation that gets trained individuals on scene quickly for incidents like this where time is critical.

In response to a number of recent requests, I am now planning to deliver some 'First Aid for Parents' courses. These will cover recognition and initial treatment for medical emergencies including choking, cardiac arrest, febrile convulsions, meningitis and other less urgent, but important conditions.
The first session will be run at Whitton Community Centre on Monday 2nd February from 10am to 1pm. Places will be limited to 10 people and are bookable by emailing info@twfas.co.uk

I had an absolutely wonderful day on Friday running an EFAW for Richmond CVS at RHACC. Teaching a room full of people who work for or volunteer for local charities and organisations is quite inspiring, and I learned a lot about groups out there that I didn't know about. I'm already looking forward to the next session I run for them in the New Year.

I'm really happy to say that I have been accepted to be a Community First Responder for The London Ambulance Service. I've got induction and training to do in the next couple of months, after which I will volunteering in my time off to help with category one calls. Exciting times!!
