Transitions Counselling

Transitions Counselling This service is no longer available. I qualified as a counsellor in 2009 and have an Advanced Diploma in Child and Family Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Counselling is not just for adults, young children, adolescents and those in their 'senior' years can benefit from having a safe space to be heard and express feelings. I offer relational counselling for anger, stress, bullying, self esteem, bereavement, separation, divorce, retirement, and many other issues. I have many years experience being with children, young people, parents and the elderly, in both the NHS and private sector.

We all have difficulties and crises in life, many of us will manage these with the help and support of friends and family, but sometimes the problem is so entrenched, the crisis so big, that the resources and support we have seems not sufficient to cope.
It is at these times we need the extra support that counselling can bring.
Sadly, for some, there is still stigma attached to the need to seek outside help yet asking for what we need, particularly in times of distress, is not weakness but strength. A courageous acknowledgement that we need more than friends and family can offer, and that we are worthy of that support.

A quiet place of remembrance. When someone significant to you has passed on, it is important to have somewhere quiet you can go that holds treasured memories of times together. Here you can 'be' together and remember the love and good times that can often get lost in the expectations of 'moving on'.

Loss is part of life and comes in many forms, the effect it has on us is very individual, can be relative to the loss we have sustained, and how loss was seen in our original family.
Each loss involves an ending and eventually a new beginning. It is the space between which many find hard to acknowledge and pass through.
Loss in any form needs to be acknowledged, along with the affect it has on us. If we discount the affect, the result will be to diminish our effectiveness in dealing with other changes and/or stresses in our lives. If you are struggling to come to terms with a loss, please contact me.

Vulnerability-a state of being open and accessible, having the courage to say "I love you" first, or enter a relationship wholeheartedly without knowing whether it will work or not.

Courage is the ability to say who you are from the heart.

Love is-the willingness to be taught and learn about another, being prepared to be vulnerable and get it wrong, while teaching them about yourself.

I offer counselling for all ages, because children, too, can benefit from being heard by an empathic other when feelings are tangled and fraught.
