The Grove's latest newsletter has all the information about the home's Christmas events. December will be action packed with plenty of trips out and celebrations in the home!

Rose Garden and Olive Tree House started their Christmas preparations this week by making salt dough decorations. Residents made the dough, rolled it out and used festive shaped cutters. These dough decorations will be left to dry (they can be baked at a low temperature) and then once ready residents will be able to paint the decorations to add to the Christmas trees. With so many floors across the two homes there were several dough making sessions this week there can never be too many Christmas decorations! 🎁🎄🎅

There were lots of helping hands for the Blossom Fields' pamper morning, it was a morning of manicures and hand massages. All the residents decided on bright coloured varnishes this week with many talking about their Christmas nails! The pamper sessions are also about residents coming together, chatting and being part of the Blossom Fields' community.

Shannon Kitchen -Singer had to delay her visit to Rose Garden and Olive Tree House for Remembrance to this week and it was worth the wait. Shannon visited residents in their rooms for individual performances and many sang along to the 1940s songs. There were tender and joyous moments as residents enjoyed their visits.

What a great trip out to Thornbury today!

Blossom Fields organised the trip with Green Community Travel and as there were a few spaces on the bus invited their neighbours The Grove along so it was a full bus!

Everyone really enjoyed the last trip to Thornbury as there are so many charity shops there and purchases were made including a lovely Christmas candle holder and jumper! It was chilly but that certainly didn't curtail the shopping, there were also some practical purchases in Savers and Aldi! A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with lots of chat along the way.

Today The Grove celebrated resident Sheila turning a youthful 90 years young! From the moment Sheila woke up, the team made sure she felt it was a truly special day for a special lady.

Sheila was absolutely delighted with her birthday cake (the chef was definitely her favourite person today!) 🍰💛

Sheila also enjoyed a wonderful visit from her son and daughter-in-law as well as friends and was showered with thoughtful gifts to mark this amazing milestone. Sheila’s smile lit up the room as she celebrated surrounded by friends, family, and her Grove family.

Blossom Fields' residents have greatly enjoyed a variety of crafts with the fallen leaves from around the home over the past few weeks. From squirrels to hair styles the autumn leaves have made some great pictures. Creating a hair style from the leaves was really effective and residents were delighted with their pictures.

At the latest gardening club residents created their own bug and animal world on paper using the different shapes of all the leaves, there was lots of fun with this session.

What amazing creativity from the nature all around Blossom Fields 🍂🍁🐿️

It was a busy day at The Grove with the start of Christmas preparations and live entertainment!

Residents had a lovely morning sorting out the Christmas decorations ready to decorate the home. The residents sorted the baubles so each tree will have a colour theme, it was wonderful to see the excitement as festive fever arrived at The Grove! 🎄

This afternoon there was musical entertainment from the The Jays with everyone in good spirits it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

For those living with dementia it is important to connect with each resident to understand what offers them comfort and interest. Dementia affects all five senses, the brain is responsible for processing sensory input, and dementia can interrupt or slow this process, Olive Tree House offer residents sensory objects and different textures which often relax as well as engage the individual. Doll therapy can also be very effective in offering comfort.

Blossom Fields welcomed Nick from Care centre sport & exercise today for another great session. Nick is popular with residents always having a full house attend and always a variety of exercises. Today was all about ball games and many residents did very well hitting the target! Nick involves all the residents making the sessions fun as well getting everyone moving.
