We're an award winning boutique photography studio based in the beautiful Darley Abbey Mills, Derby. Our team have over a decade of experience in portraiture, and specialise in Pregnancy, Newborns, Babies, Children, Family and Boudoir photography. LOCATION:

Only 5mins from the main City Centre of Derby, Mackney Photography is based in the beautiful English heritage site in their purpose built photography studio. Inspired by our experiences in London and New York – the studio offers the perfect combination of high ceilings for better lighting, picturesque outdoor park locations just seconds away and an abundance of ideas to really capture you and your family. ✨ Say hello to Penelope, one of our beautiful Baby of the Year entrants and an absolute delight in the studio! Entered into the competition by her mum, Claire, this little star arrived with the full family in tow, and we couldn’t have been happier.

As a family run business, we appreciate the importance of family portraits. Family is what we do because family is what we are. And Penelope was more than happy to share the spotlight with Mum, Dad, and her two wonderful older brothers. 💛

This gorgeous family arrived in perfectly complementary colours, tying them together as one beautifully coordinated unit. The results speak for themselves. A fabulous session from start to finish!

🐾Nova🐾.the little pup with a whole lot of charm, and the power to steal hearts in an instant! This gorgeous lady was such a joy to photograph, full of gentle curiosity and adorable expressions.

We especially loved capturing her with one of her favourite toys, adding that personal touch that makes a portrait truly meaningful. And the shot of Nova and Heidi holding hands… or paws… or hand-paw (you get the idea!) absolutely melted us. 💛🐶

These moments are what it’s all about, celebrating the bond between pets and their humans in the most beautiful way.

🧡Willow🧡..the happiest little Cockerpoo with big energy and the waggiest tail you’ve ever seen!✨🐾

Willow came into the studio ready for anything and we loved every second. From exploring our range of props to striking pose after pose, we captured a gorgeous variety of portraits that show off her joyful spirit perfectly.

But the sweetest moment of all? Willow brought along her favourite cuddly toy, which made for some beautifully personal and heart melting portraits. What a happy dog… living her best life! 💛🐶

✨🎉 Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! Today feels even more special as we share these beautiful portraits of baby Arthur, a perfect symbol of new beginnings. Just as the year ahead is full of promise, so too is the start of Arthur’s journey.. bright, full of love, and full of potential. 💛

It was such a joy to capture this precious time for the whole family. Mum and Dad joined in, along with big brother Charlie, who at just 2 years old was already showing love, care, and protection for his baby brother. The first portrait in the slide says it all, Charlie gently kissing Arthur on the head, a tender moment we know will be treasured forever.💛

✨ This portrait melts our hearts 💛 Louie with his two big sisters, captured in timeless black and white. Moments like these are priceless.

Siblings growing together, laughing together, just being together at this young age… these are the portraits families cherish forever.🖼️

From there, the session continued to be just as special. Louie came in for a baby photoshoot as part of this year’s Baby of the Year competition, and we’re so glad the whole family got involved.

🐾✨ Meet Reay, Emma’s furry best friend!
The bond between these two is something truly special. Their connection was overflowing with love, trust and that unmistakable “my human is my world” energy.

We loved having them both in the studio, creating a mix of heartfelt moments and fun memories. And when personal touches like Reay’s favourite frisbee come along? Even better! That second shot with the frisbee had us all laughing.. nice one, Reay! 😄
