What is hypnosis? A lot of people are afraid or skeptical of hypnosis and they believe it is some form of mind control. It most definitely is not anything of the sort. In actual fact, hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we all drift in and out of on a daily basis. Whenever you become engrossed in a movie or a book you are in a state of hypnosis. When you are driving your car on 'autopilot' you are in a light hypnotic state. Every time you drift off into a daydream you are in hypnosis. In the therapy room you are guided into a nice state of deep relaxation where your unconscious mind becomes more open and receptive to positive beneficial suggestions and other therapy techniques. You will remain in control and fully aware at all times. What if I can't be hypnotised? Almost everyone can be hypnotised. The only people who can't be hypnotised are those with a very low IQ and who aren't able to follow simple instructions. Some are able to go into a very deep state although they are still aware and in control; others remain in a much lighter state of hypnosis. How deep you go is entirely up to you because you are in control. As far as the therapy is concerned it doesn't matter how deep you go into hypnosis. In actual fact, if you did little more than close your eyes we could still do some very beneficial work. How many sessions would I need? This depends on what the problem is. Many phobias and habits can be resolved in just one or two sessions. Deeper emotional problems typically require between three and five sessions. Meditation

Meditation is not just a relaxation technique. Meditation is not necessarily attached to any doctrine or religion; although some religions may adopt meditation as a spiritual practice. On our course, meditation is completely detached from any religious beliefs or practices. Meditation doesn't mean going into trance. Meditation is not a mysterious practice that cannot be understood. The purpose of meditation is not to become psychic or acquiring any obscure power. Meditation is not dangerous. Meditation is not only or saints or monks, it is mainly for regular people. Meditation is not running away from reality, but an exercise which allows to fully engage with life. Meditation is not selfish, people who practice meditation become more open to other people's needs and their relationships improve. Meditation is not about engaging with lofty thoughts. Although meditation is great to help you sort out your problems, with a couple of weeks of meditation your problems will not all go away. However you will still receive some benefits from day 1 of your practice. ( Bhange Gunaratana, Mindufllness ).
