What is Sound Therapy?
Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the mind and body of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony, balance, and better health. Science now proves that everything in the Universe is made up of energy and in a state of vibration. Just like we have unique finger prints and DNA, every one of us has our own unique frequency at which we naturally vibrate . When we are out of our natural frequency (or resonance) then we start to feel off balance and eventually manifest illnes and dis-ease in our body.
The Gong and Tibetan bowl have been used for thousands of years to re-balance and tone the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies using vibration . The sound of these instruments, when played with sensitivity and intent, are very powerful tools for relieving stress, fatigue and anxiety so prevalent in our modern day lives. Constant exposure to these life stresses can lead to the lack of balance and harmony in the body causing long term chronic illness and mental instability. During a Sound Bath, you relax, fully clothed either on a comfortable mat on the floor or sitting in a chair, and let the vibrations of the instruments bathe your body and sooth the mind. You can completely surrender as the sounds gently wash over you and immerse you in vibrational bliss. This induces a deep state of relaxation as your brain moves from the wide awake and alert Beta waves into the meditative states of Alpha and Theta .
