Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) – Who Can Get It on the NHS?
We've had many questions about Mounjaro®, the weight loss injection. Here's what you need to know:
Mounjaro® is currently only available on the NHS under strict criteria:
Patients need to have a body mass index (BMI) of at least 40 and at least four of the following five weight-related conditions:
- Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Obstructive sleep apnoea
- Abnormal blood fats (dyslipidaemia)
Patients must also agree to take part in additional lifestyle support as part of the treatment.
If you don’t meet the new NHS rules, you won’t be able to get Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) through the NHS.
We are working with Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly ICB, to agree how to manage the implementation of this service in our area.
PLEASE DON'T CONTACT YOUR GP PRACTICE, as we won’t be able to help until we have more information.
Other support is available if you do not qualify for Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) on the NHS. If you're looking for help managing your weight, check out:
