Artwalk Wakefield: The Art Exchange CIC Line-Up

Your essential stop for incredible community art, skate culture, abstract painting, and a live acoustic sound jam is The Art Exchange CIC (Studio A4, 1st Floor, Westgate Studios).

We are jam-packed with talent and open from 5:00 PM!

🌟 LITTLE STORIES, BIG LIGHT 🌟

Come and be utterly charmed by the Story Lightboxes created by the young artists from our Home Ed Art Adventures and Portfolio Building classes! These incredible pieces, made from repurposed materials, explore 3D design and narrative using light. Each box is a peek into a child's fantastical, unique world. This is pure, inspiring community creativity!

The Full Art Exchange Line-Up (Studio A4, Big Room)

🛹 DIVISION 24 (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
Celebrating 20 years of Wakefield's skate store! We're hosting a special screening of their commemorative film featuring local skaters in iconic district spots. Plus, view accompanying photography and visual art produced by local artists for Division 24.

🎨 HELEN FIELD (Open 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Explore a vibrant new collection of abstract paintings by Wakefield-based artist Helen Field. Known for her expressive use of colour and texture, this is a unique chance to engage with her evolving practice.

✍️ MICHELLE KOLESZKO: Letterpress Prints (Open 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
Be intrigued by the history and imperfect aesthetic of letterpress. Michelle showcases original prints of dialogue excerpts and word art created using wood and metal type on the press.

🎸 ACOUSTIC JAM (Informal Sound Session)
Bring along your instrument and join us for an informal Acoustic Jam session! Come listen or join in the spontaneous flow of creative music.

Artwalk Wakefield returns for its final outing of 2025 on Wednesday 26th November, with 14 venues participating across the city.

Meet, Make & Mingle Update! 🥳

Heads up, lovely creators! There will be no Meet, Make & Mingle session this week as we're busy celebrating an important milestone: the 8th birthday of a very special little man! 🎂🎉

It's Artwalk Wakefield the week after but please join us there, there's some awesome exhibitions!

The Wednesday after we have a wreath making workshop with only a couple of places left if you want to join.

So we will be back on the 10th December, ready to create, catch up, and maybe enjoy a cheeky drink to welcome in the Christmas Celebrations!

🎨 PAID ARTIST OPPORTUNITY: YORK MURAL COMMISSION 🌍

The Art Exchange CIC is excited to announce a paid commission opportunity! We are partnering with Samantha at One World Travel to find an artist to design and install a large-scale mural for their brand new shop opening in York.

This is a brilliant, high-profile project to add to your portfolio!

The Project Brief

Client: One World Travel, York

Task: Design and paint an interior mural showcasing landmarks from around the world.
Wall Size: Approximately 3.8m x 3m

Budget: £800 – £1,000 (This must include all material costs).

Timeline: Installation required within the next month.
How to Apply (Deadline is Urgent!)

We need to fill this commission quickly. To apply, please send us a visual proposal that demonstrates your style and ideas:

1. A Conceptual Sketch/Design: Sketch up an initial idea of how you would approach the "landmarks from around the world" theme on the specified wall size.

2. Portfolio of Work: Include links or attached images of your previous mural or large-scale painting work.
