Today we celebrated Chinese New Year.
This morning some of our residents enjoyed making Chinese lanterns which we used as table decorations. Our kitchen team cooked a lovely Chinese themed lunch which everyone enjoyed.
This afternoon we had fun with Chinese bingo, some of our residents tried using chopsticks to pick up prawn crackers and then we looked at what Chinese zodiac sign everyone was. Then everyone enjoyed a selection of Chinese savoury treats for our afternoon platter. At tea time everyone enjoyed chicken and sweetcorn soup and Chinese stir fry noodles noodles followed by jelly.

We had a lovely day yesterday celebrating Valentines Day. We were treated to live music from Saxy George which everyone enjoyed, followed by a special Valentines lunch. Tables were set and we had two romantic tables for 2 for our lovely married couples to enjoy a romantic meal together.
Afterwards we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with delicious decorated cupcakes, love heart shortbread, chocolate strawberries and love heart marshmallows dipped in chocolate.

We had a lovely afternoon of sports reminiscence yesterday on Wensleydale house with Tom from Wakefield council. He chatted to the residents about sports they enjoyed and handed around old sports equipment and they looked at old photographs.

Tom is joining us again on Calderdale house tomorrow and then for the next 8 weeks for more reminiscence sessions.

Please join us on Wensleydale house.

We have had an amazing day today celebrating Burns night.

We decorated our trolley containing all our goodies, our residents enjoyed a game of Scottish bingo, a Scottish quiz, we even had Scottish hats with ginger hair to dress up. They enjoyed a glass of Irn Bru and some Scottish shortbread.

Our fantastic kitchen team, including Scottish chef John, cooked up a Scottish feast with Haggis, Neeps and Tatties followed by Cranachan for dessert. They then served all the houses with their meals with chef John, wearing his traditional Highland Dress. Lunch was a great success with John and our kitchen team chatting and interacting with all of our residents. There were lots of smiling faces.

After lunch our residents enjoyed a little tipple of Scottish Whiskey and then we were treated to a performance by a real bagpiper. This was amazing, everyone was clapping along, dancing, and tapping their feet.

The day ended with homemade Scotch broth, a Scottish platter and rice cakes and scones.

All the staff came together to make today a special and memorable day for our residents.

Our lovely lady Ivy celebrated her very special 100th birthday yesterday.
She was very happy to receive her card from the King and Queen, and then she enjoyed her birthday party in the afternoon with her family around her. Our kitchen team provided a lovely buffet. She had the fantastic Ukulele Henry entertaining her. A Special day for a special lady.

Our Story

In our home each resident has an individual care plan designed to give them the best support possible. Our highly-trained team ensure residents have as much independence as possible, while getting the care they require.

We focus on dignity and quality of life in a warm and friendly environment. For each resident we create a Map of Life that details their experiences, likes and dislikes as well as their specific needs. This helps us tailor their care to suit them.

Our care assistants and registered nurses are available round the clock to help residents and give their loved ones peace of mind.
