Back pain doesn’t just “happen” — it often builds up from tight muscles, poor movement patterns, long hours at a desk, or repetitive strain.

That’s why regular sports massage is about more than simply working on the sore spot.

At FT Sports Massage Therapy, we assess the underlying cause of your back pain and treat the areas contributing to the problem, helping restore balance, mobility, and long-term comfort — not just short-term relief.

Whether you’re active in sports, on your feet all day, or working long hours at a desk, regular massage can help keep back pain at bay, improve recovery, and keep your body performing at its best.

Hiya everyone, I have a quick update to share regarding my availability.

Due to personal circumstances, I’ll be changing to a 4-day rotating schedule. 4 working and 4 off. This means my working days will change weekly, but online booking will remain open but will change from Setmore to Square appointments as it allows for a dynamic calendar. You will see my current availability and book appointments easily.

My plans are to get it all switched over on the 1st of March. I’m hoping for a smooth changeover but we all know what technology is like!! If you get emails and text reminders from 2 booking systems, I’ll be transferring current bookings onto the new system in the next few weeks to make sure they are already in before the new booking schedule opens to avoid double booking.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all very much for your understanding, flexibility and continued support. I truly appreciate it and look forward to seeing you soon!

Drop me a message if you have any questions 😁

Sports massage is a perfect recovery tool for you to use!

Check out what regular massages can give you! 👇

👍Increased blood circulation and replenishes muscles with fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients and aids the removal of toxins from the body.

👍Improved elasticity in connective tissue. Improved range of movement (ROM) and flexibility in movements. If the muscles are tight or short it restricts ROM and you are unable to achieve your best in training sessions.

Tight muscles don't strengthen and grow like healthy muscles do!

👍Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and speeds up recovery time.

👍Promotes relaxation and reduces stress

👍Aids sleep which is very important in the recovery aspect of any training programme.

Allow yourself to get the best possible results from your training programme with regular sports massages! 💪

How often should you get a sports massage? 🤔💆‍♂️💆‍♀️

Whether you’re on your feet all day, stuck at a desk, or training hard in the gym, your body works harder than you think!

💼 For busy workers (desk-based or manual jobs):
If you’re dealing with tight shoulders, lower back ache, or repetitive strain, a sports massage every 1–4 weeks can help keep tension under control and prevent small niggles turning into bigger problems.

🏋️ For active people & gym-goers:
Training regularly? Lifting, running, cycling or playing sports? A massage every 2–4 weeks can support recovery, improve flexibility, and keep you performing at your best.

🏃‍♂️ In intense training periods or event prep:
You might benefit from weekly or fortnightly sessions to stay on top of muscle tightness and reduce injury risk.

💪Injury rehab or specific tight/problem areas:
Weekly sessions initially may be recommended, then taper to monthly once symptoms improve.

✨ Remember:
Sports massage isn’t just for athletes. It’s for anyone who wants to move better, feel better, and prevent pain — not just treat it.

Listen to your body 👂 If you’re constantly tight, sore, or fatigued, it’s probably time to book in.

Your body is your most important tool — look after it! 🔧💙

Common work-related aches and pains include:

✔️ Relieve stress and fatigue
✔️ Support better posture
✔️ Speed up recovery from daily strain

1
STRETCH YOUR QUADS
Knee pain can often be related to overused quadriceps. Overusing your quads can place a huge amount of stress through the knee cap and patella tendon which, over time it can increase irritation and pain. Stretching your quads is an easy way to
knee pressure and reduce pain during running.
2
INVEST TIME IN YOUR WARMUPS
Overlooked and underrated, this important component to your training programme is an easy way to increase blood flow, improve brain to muscle connections, and increase your overall running efficiency. Ignoring a 5 minute warmup can leave you muscle “cold” and cause stress in the knees.
3
STRENGTHEN YOUR CALVES
There is an important connection between strong calves and running pain free. Strong calves not only reduces your run times but takes pressure off your kneecap and tendons. Performing heel/calf raises and toe walks is an easy way to built strength in the calves.
4
ADJUSTING YOUR RUNNING PROGRAMME
Reducing your weekly milage or changing your running methods such as a run/walk instead of the constant pace can help your pain subside, keep irritation down and reduce recovery time.
5
MOBILISE YOUR HIPS
Hips are most likely the main culprit to lower limb injuries. Focus on improving flexibility in your glutes, adductors and hip flexor group muscles. Stretching these groups off, will set you up for an easier run, allowing your hips to be utilised and reducing stress from your knees. The Pidgeon pose is a great hip opener and stretches the glutes too!
6
ANALISE YOUR MOVEMENT WITH AN EXPERT
Not all knee pain is the same. To ensure complete recovery and return you to doing what you love, find a specialist who can test your range of movement, strength tests and create a bespoke treatment plan to help you and your needs. Regular sports massage treatments can keep you running at your best.

For quicker recovery from injury, maintenance massages to keep you running at your best, drop me a message to get booked in.
