Knowing that February can be a tricky month for some, we wanted to bring an extra layer of soothing, supportive practice to the timetable.

Emily will be adding a special class to the timetable this Sunday - Cosy Restorative to Relax & Reset.

What to expect?
A gentle, mindful practice using grounding, fully supported restorative postures to ease tension from both body and mind. With time to rest, soften, and breathe, this class invites deep relaxation and a quiet sense of reset - the perfect little slice of me time.

This session combines the calming practices of restorative yoga and sound healing.

During the session, you will be guided through gentle restorative yoga poses, helping you to relax and release tension from the body and mind. Whilst resting in a blissful savasana, you will be immersed in the soothing sounds of a crystal bowl sound bath.

The healing vibrations of the crystal bowls will wash over you, deepening your relaxation and helping to clear any lingering stress or blockages, leaving you refreshed, balanced, and fully restored.

Meet our teachers - Iain Ross .yoga โœจ

Iain discovered yoga during a challenging time marked by what he now recognizes as chronic stress and anxiety. Practicing at his local studio during lunch breaks offered him fleeting moments of peace, igniting a desire to learn more about the practice.

Over the years, Iain experienced ups and downs with yoga, often feeling frustrated when he couldnโ€™t โ€œperfectโ€ certain postures. After years of practice, Iain decided to pursue a teacher training. During this journey, he shed his inner perfectionist and realized that ฤsana is just the tip of the iceberg, prompting him to look inward. This shift transformed his practice forever.

Since then, Iain has had the privilege of learning from some of the leading practitioners and teachers in the yoga world. He feels it is his dharmaโ€”his lifeโ€™s purposeโ€”to be on this path and to use his own hardships to help others heal.

Iainโ€™s classes are designed as inclusive spaces for everyone to explore yoga, welcoming individuals of all abilities, backgrounds, ages, genders, sexualities, colors, races, creeds, and everything in between. He believes that if yoga means union, then it should unite us all.

You can join Iain every Monday at 10-11am for Chair Flow, and also for occasional workshops and special events (see our website homepage for whatโ€™s coming up!).

Meet our teachers - Jennifer Fawcett โœจ

In her late teens, Jen was training to be a professional dancer, but self-doubt and comparison led her to walk away from her lifelong dream at 19. For many years, she avoided studios altogether until discovering aerial yoga, which gently brought her back to movement.

What began as a physical practice soon became something deeper โ€” a way to understand her mind, find balance, and cultivate peace. After completing her 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training in 2023, Jen is now continuing her 300-hour journey. Her intention as a teacher is to share creative flows that inspire peace, both on the mat and beyond.

Jen teaches Vinyasa Flow on Mondays at 7:30-8:30pm, Wednesdays at 7-7:50am, Fridays at 9:45-10:45am and one in every four Sundays at 10-11am.

Working one-to-one with students is one of my favourite things about being a yoga teacher. Having the space to break postures down, and explore alignment that works for the studentโ€™s unique body is incredibly rewarding.

Today was the first of three sessions with a new student - a regular student at YoGology, but new to one-to-one sessions.

We refined their alignment in Downward Facing Dog, where a small adjustment to the positioning of the feet and a gentle manual assist completely changed the look and feel of the posture for them. We also broke down Side Plank and Wild Thing, including how to create a safe weight-bearing angle in the shoulder and how to engage the supporting muscles to avoid collapsing into the joint.

Alongside the physical practice, they wanted tools to help manage stress at work, so I introduced them to a pranayama practice that they can use to regulate the nervous system when feeling overwhelmed.

This two day teacher training, recognised by Yoga Alliance, will give you the tools to apply hands-on assists through an informed, updated, and supportive lens.

You will learn to offer breath-led assists guided by the purpose and intention of each posture, assists that create a two-way conversation, cultivate stability and direction, and encourage seeing the body as a whole through a softer, more responsive lens.

You will learn how to offer touch that grounds and supports, providing a steady base, clear direction and the autonomy for each student to choose how far to go.
