We know that finding yourself on the neonatal unit can feel overwhelming, especially when your baby needs a bit of extra help with feeding. That’s why we’re so grateful to parents Bethan and Adam, who have kindly shown just how simple, safe and empowering tube feeding can be 🩵

Tube feeding is a well‑established way to support babies with their feeding and growth and learning how to do it yourself can help you feel more confident and even get you home sooner.

On our neonatal unit, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. We’ll help you:
✔ understand what tube feeding is and why it’s used
✔ learn how to tube feed your baby safely
✔ build confidence through practice at your pace

If you’d like to learn more or start practicing tube feeding, please speak to your nurse or a member of our outreach team. We’ll support you until you feel comfortable and ready.

In this video, parents Bethan and Adam show how simple, safe and empowering it can be to tube feed your baby using an NG (nasogastric) tube.Tube feeding is a...

⚠️ We want to make families aware that additional batches of infant formula have been recalled due to the possible presence of a toxin called cereulide.

Cereulide is unlikely to be destroyed by boiling water or cooking, and if consumed it can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.

Even if your baby seems well, it is essential to stop using affected products and switch to a different batch or brand.

If you have recently purchased infant formula, please check the batch numbers and expiry dates against the recall notice at: bit.ly/46yMYl0

If your child is showing symptoms and you are concerned they may have consumed affected formula, please contact NHS 111 or speak to your GP.

For further information and advice visit bit.ly/4qjYpEe

We understand that recent infant formula recalls may be causing worry for parents and carers. Our information page explains which products are affected and what you should do.

Batches from brands including Aptamil, Cow & Gate and SMA have been recalled. If you have formula at home, check the batch code as affected products may still be in your cupboard.

If you have an affected batch:

- Stop using it
- Return it to the store for a replacement
- You can switch to another batch or brand
- If formula was prescribed, speak to a pharmacist or doctor first

I'd like to thank say a huge thank you to all the midwives at Pinderfields Labour Ward but a special mention for Caroline Lackey who supported me from the moment I arrived at triage until her shift ended. She made a stressful situation calmer, and provided constant reassurance once the doctor had to come and assist delivery. She explained what was happening/going to happen which helped me stay relaxed. There will never be a thank you big enough 🩵"

This , Emma said: "Thank you to Keeley and Annie for bringing our daughter into the world on 18th November and thank you to the rest of the Pinderfields maternity team for their responsive care in what was a whirlwind of a day - I came in for a scan and somewhat unexpectedly came home with a baby only a few hours later.

"I really felt listened to and that plans were changed based on what I could communicate was happening in my body. Both my midwives were direct but compassionate and I was informed at all times as to what was happening, why and how to best get our baby here safely.

"I can't express enough how positive the experience was, despite it being a little different to what was planned!"

"After a difficult natural birth with our little boy nearly 4 years old ago we opted for an elective caesarean this time and it was everything we wanted to welcome our daughter into the world. Everyone on the PACU team was fabulous! Everyone explained everything to us, no question was silly and it made the whole experience so enjoyable! Special shout out to Donna, who kept us calm and relaxed throughout and Liz who did a fabulous job bringing Marnie safely into the world, all whilst singing along to our playlist! We had so many wonderful midwives and student midwives in recovery and on the ward after, everyone working hard to support us with feeding which wasn’t the easiest! Shout out to Rachel from FAB team who sat with us and helped us in having a breastfeeding breakthrough!

"Above all, a massive thank you to Martha, our gorgeous community midwife who went above and beyond to ensure I received the best care throughout a very difficult pregnancy. We can’t thank her enough, it made some difficult and emotional times so much easier knowing she was only a phone call or message away. Our little family is complete."
