Little musing about the concept of joy on my walk today; joy is the feeling of pleasure & happiness.
And seemingly we aren't getting much in our lives! But repeated hits of joy award off stress & support our autonomic nervous system. Microdoses of joy or 'joy snacks' such as seeing a sun rise/set, noticing the taste of your coffee, or feeling the sun on your skin releases feel good hormones (dopamine & serotonin)!
People in fight or flight mode showed a decrease in sympathetic nervous system activity!
We often have a negative bias, but engaging in joy snacks can help rewire neural pathways & improve emotional & physical wellbeing!
