New digital services to support people with their health have moved a step closer thanks to innovations developed by six companies selected as part of the regionโ€™s effort to help people stay well and in work.

More than 130 companies put forward ideas to help people manage their health so they can remain in work, with the successful entries focusing on areas including mental health, menopause, and musculoskeletal conditions.

They include a digital physiotherapy-style service providing people with musculoskeletal conditions a personalised plan, real-time feedback, and safe, effective exercises being launched in areas including North Tyneside.

Doctors in the region are urgently calling on all children and adults with a learning disability and their carers to get a free flu vaccine as soon as possible.

Flu cases are rising this winter and can be extremely dangerous for those most at risk.

Only 35% of people with a learning disability across the region have already had their flu vaccine this winter โ€“ leaving too many still unprotected.

The project, which ensures the helipad meets the latest aviation standards, was supported by a ยฃ630,000 donation from the HELP Appeal, the only charity in the country dedicated to funding NHS hospital helipads.

The new helipad features a larger concrete landing pad plus other enhancements, including aviation lighting to support night-time landings.
