Today, we pause to remember and honour all those who served and sacrificed during times of conflict ❤️

Remembrance Day, the 11th of November, marks the moment the First World War came to an end — at 11am, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, in 1918.

Today, we’re proud to stand alongside the Armed Forces community as members of the Armed Forces Covenant, honouring those who serve, have served, and the families who support them.

Lest we forget 🕯️

Stay safe this Bonfire Night! 🎆

Every year, around 2,000 people in the UK visit A&E due to firework-related injuries. Most of these accidents happen at private events, which is why it’s so important to take a few extra precautions before lighting that first spark.

At FRFA, we’re encouraging everyone to enjoy Bonfire Night safely this year. Whether you’re hosting at home or heading to a community display, follow these key tips:
🔥 Buy fireworks with the BS 7114 mark
✨ Keep a safe distance
🧤 Stay alert with sparklers
🚑 Have a first aid kit nearby
🐾 Protect your pets
💧 Always have water ready

Stay safe, look out for one another, and enjoy the night responsibly! 💥

Think you can swallow your tongue during a seizure? ❌ Myth!

What actually happens is that the muscles relax, which can cause the tongue to fall back and block the airway.

But you can't actually swallow your tongue, as it remains attached to the bottom of your mouth by a small piece of tissue called the lingual frenulum 👅

The risk of the tongue blocking a person's airway is a concern, and that's why it’s so important to put someone in the recovery position if they’re unconscious or after a seizure.

There are so many first aid myths like this — and knowing the facts could help you save a life ✅

Happy Halloween!🧡

From pumpkin carving and fancy dress to trick-or-treating, it’s one of the most exciting nights of the year — but it’s also a time when small accidents can easily happen. Whether it’s a carving slip, a costume trip, or a tumble in the dark, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping everyone safe.

We’ve put together our top 5 first aid tips for a safe Halloween to help you enjoy the night without any unwanted scares 👻

🧛‍♂️ Choose Safe Costumes – Make sure costumes fit properly, are flame-resistant, and don’t block vision. Avoid long hems and opt for soft, flexible props.

🎃 Pumpkin Safety with Kids – Always carve on a stable surface and supervise closely. If a cut happens, clean it gently, apply pressure, and cover it with a sterile dressing.

🌙 Be Seen After Dark – Add reflective tape or carry a torch so drivers can see you. Stick to well-lit paths and face oncoming traffic when walking.

🕯️ Keep Flames Away – Swap real candles for battery-powered LED lights and keep flames away from costumes or decorations.

🍬 Check Treats Before Eating – Make sure sweets are sealed and allergen-safe. If you’re giving treats out, avoid ones containing nuts.

Stay safe, stay seen, and have a great Halloween! 👻
