Luff House has an active social life in which residents can take part or follow their own pursuits. We appreciate that each resident has their own individual interests, hobbies and pastimes, and we endeavour to support our residents to maintain this important part of their lives. Our residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle that they choose, doing as much or as little as they want - residents can simply choose to put their feet up with a daily paper (by arrangement) or a good book from the County Library which visits every month, or from the home’s own collection.
Our weekly programme includes activities such as craft, knitting and sewing groups, armchair and active exercise, music sessions, poetry and reminiscence, gardening, flower arranging and cake baking sessions. Various visiting entertainments and church groups come to us on a regular basis. Several hairdressers visit throughout the week. A mobile clothing supplier allows for a little retail therapy in the comfort of your own home, together with occasional craft displays and coffee mornings.
Our Christian background is at the heart of both our values and our actions. At Luff House we try to create a community where Christian worship, prayer and support are a core part of daily life. We have daily devotions, a mid-week service and regular communion services in the home. There is an evangelical church just across the road and transport is provided by the church.
Around the Home
Situated in a peaceful residential setting, Luff House is just over a mile away from the beautiful, sandy Frinton sea front. There is a small shopping centre close to the home which boasts a supermarket, post office, café and several variety shops. There is a good bus service close to the home and Frinton train station is less than a mile away.
The Home offers residential care, including specialist dementia care. We have 11 bungalows for sheltered housing, and 8 apartments for Retirement Living or Retirement Living Plus on site. There are two secure gardens and a guest room is available by prior arrangement.
To ensure the privacy and dignity of our residents, all rooms have en-suite facilities, television and telephone points. There are bathrooms with assisted baths on both the ground and first floors. We have lounge and dining rooms on both the ground and first floor, which can be accessed by the passenger lift. There is a pleasant garden with patio, accessible by both foot and wheelchair from the lounge room and a further garden at the rear of the home.
We enjoy showing visitors around the home, but request that if this is the purpose of your visit you call us first to arrange a suitable time. This allows us to allocate a member of staff to answer your questions. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day, and there is the opportunity to purchase a meal in the home if they wish to do so, by prior arrangement.
