Elf Day Fun at Wandsworth Common Care Home 🎄🧝‍♂️

This week our teams went all-out with their naughty Elf scenes for Elf Day, all in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. Each department created its own magical (and mischievous!) setup, filling the home with laughter, joy, and plenty of festive cheer.

Events like this mean a great deal to us. Alzheimer’s touches so many lives, including those close to our hearts. Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society is our way of standing together, raising awareness, and bringing moments of light, connection, and fun into our home.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for their creativity and spirit, and to our lovely residents who always join in with such enthusiasm. 💛

Cake4Kindness at the Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre

As part of our Cake4Kindness initiative, our residents were delighted to bring some of the delicious cupcakes prepared by our Head Chef, Tom, to the Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre.

A big thank you to Nick, Frank and Andy, and all the staff who run this fantastic centre. The Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre does truly wonderful work, creating a safe, warm and person-centred environment where service users can enjoy meaningful activities, social connection and supportive care. Their dedication to promoting wellbeing and independence is truly inspiring.

We’re proud to show our appreciation with this small gesture of kindness, and we look forward to continuing to support the amazing work they do in our community. 🍰💛✨

A Wonderful Day Out

Our residents had a lovely time visiting The Edwardians: Age of Elegance exhibition, exploring the lives and tastes of Britain’s most fashionable royal couples.

They particularly enjoyed the diversity of objects on display and learning more about this elegant period of British history.

A Look Back at Our Remembrance Week

Our residents gathered to reflect, remember, and celebrate the courage of those who lived through wartime.

We held minutes of silence that felt deeply moving.

The D Dollies brought their wonderful wartime performances, filling the home with music, memories, and a real sense of togetherness.

Fiona joined us to explore Wartime Women and read wartime poems that opened conversations about resilience, strength, and the often-forgotten stories of women during the war.

Our residents connected, reflected, and shared their own memories.

We will remember them. 🌺

Our Halloween celebration turned the home upside down, in the best way!
We baked pies, decorated pumpkins, and transformed the place into a Haunted Manor.

A big shout-out to our amazing head chef Tom for the deliciously eerie afternoon tea, complete with a “big hand” sausage roll.

And to top it all off, Michelle arrived with the ultimate pet therapy squad: cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs… and even a silver laced cockerel! The residents were thrilled.

We had the joy of celebrating Diwali with a stunning performance by Devika from Beeja Dance, founded by the talented Anusha Subramanyam. Through graceful Bharatanatyam storytelling, Devika brought the Festival of Lights to life, a moment of pure beauty and wonder for our residents.

This morning, our residents enjoyed a peaceful trip to the beautiful Bushy Park, which truly felt like stepping into a painting of autumn colours! 🍁

They wandered through tranquil woodlands and winding waterways, surrounded by golden leaves and the gentle sounds of birds. Everyone loved feeding the carp, watching the deer roam freely, and simply relaxing in nature’s calm.
