This Easter, our care home was filled with warmth, creativity, and meaningful connections as we brought generations together to celebrate the season in a truly special way 🌸🐣

We were incredibly proud to celebrate a wonderful achievement as our wonderful residents won 1st place in a regional Easter creativity competition. At the heart of this success was their beautiful “Memory Box,” lovingly created to capture how Easter has been celebrated across three generations. Through shared stories of faith, tradition, and simple joys from the past to the vibrant celebrations of today, it became a powerful reminder that connection and togetherness are always at the heart of Easter 💟

The day became even more memorable as we welcomed children from the community to join us. The home was filled with laughter and curiosity as residents and children spent time together, sharing stories, taking part in Easter activities, and enjoying an outdoor egg hunt. These moments of connection were truly priceless and brought so much joy to everyone involved 🐰✨

It was a day full of smiles, storytelling, and unforgettable memories, showing just how meaningful it is to bring generations together and celebrate as one community 🌷

We had such a lovely evening at St Katharines Care Home as the O’Gara School of Irish Dance brought the spirit of St Patrick’s Day to life 💜🍀

From the very first step, the room was full of energy, music and smiles. We were treated to dancers of all ages, from the youngest performers full of excitement to more experienced dancers whose skill was incredible to watch.

For us, it was more than just a performance. It brought everyone together and created such a lovely atmosphere in our home. Our residents really enjoyed the chance to experience something different and be part of the celebration.

At St Katharine’s, our activities team always look for ways to bring a variety of traditions and cultures into the home. Moments like this are a great way to spark memories, start conversations and simply enjoy something new together.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable evening!

We had such a fun pub night last week at St Katharines Care Home ! 🍻

This time, Rachel chose the theme… 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦! 🎩 So of course, we all rose to the challenge and found some fabulous (and sometimes very creative!) hats to wear for the evening.

It wasn’t just about dressing up... there were plenty of laughs as we tried to think of famous faces known for their hats. From policemen and firemen to Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and even Puss in Boots, there were some great answers from both our wonderful residents and team.

We also got creative with our decorations, putting together a lovely display featuring well-known hat-wearers like Lady Diana, Queen Elizabeth, ABBA and Dolly Parton. As Jean said, “It’s one of those things you don’t really think about until you look closely.”

To top it all off, we enjoyed a delicious Chinese-themed evening, which had been requested by some of our residents. Our chef Susan (who also joined in with a fancy hat!) prepared a fantastic sweet and sour chicken, along with spring rolls, curry sauce, rice and prawn crackers which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone 🥢

A big thank you to our kitchen and activities team, who always go above and beyond to make these evenings so special for our residents 💜

Tuesdays are always full of joy here thanks to our wonderful pet therapy sessions with Therapy Dogs Nationwide 🐾✨

Their beautiful golden retriever, Susie, never fails to steal the show. She loves all the fuss and attention, and of course, keeps a careful eye out for a treat or two 🍖

Our wonderful residents treasure these visits, spending time with Susie, hearing about her little adventures, and reminiscing about their own beloved pets. Moments like these bring so much warmth, happiness and connection - something we really value here at St Katharines Care Home 💜

We had the most wonderful afternoon at St Kat’s Got Talent, all in support of Comic Relief 💜

The event was alive with energy, creativity and joy from the very first moment. Our residents were mesmerized by an incredible range of talent, from powerful vocalists and captivating singers to skilled musicians, magical performers, and even dazzling hula hoop artists. Every act brought something unique, making the experience both exciting and unforgettable 🎤🎶✨

Smiles and cheers filled the room as residents soaked up the atmosphere, celebrating each performance and sharing in the laughter and delight. A special thank you goes to the SKGT panel, who had the tough job of choosing winners among so many remarkable contestants 🏆😊

It was an afternoon full of talent, community spirit and happiness, leaving everyone inspired, connected and filled with joyful memories that will stay with us for a long time 💜🎉

Did you know that we include regular trips and outings in our activity and wellbeing programme?

Recently, St Katharines Care Home took advantage of some lovely spring weather and took a stroll down to one of our favourite haunts - The Bear Hotel in . It was a beautiful day with no rain in sight and a lovely way to get some gentle exercise in before enjoying a pint with some friends and a delicious coffee from the best coffee company (we may be slighly biased) The Oxford Coffee Company Ltd .

If you are ever in the area, we would certainly recommend the The Bear Hotel for it's friendly atmosphere, lovely food and drink and it has been an historic landmark here in Wantage for nearly 500 years, overlooking our marketplace since the 16th century.

What a truly magical day we had celebrating St Patrick’s Day here at St Katharines Care Home , where our wonderful residents, dedicated team, and visiting performers came together to create something truly special. From the moment the morning began, our home in the heart of the community was filled with laughter, colour, and the unmistakable spirit of Ireland as everyone joined in dressing up, sharing stories, and enjoying their favourite Irish tunes. ☘️

As the day unfolded, the atmosphere only grew warmer and more joyful, with music echoing through our lounges and smiles lighting up every corner. Residents reminisced, staff joined in the fun, and together we created moments of connection, happiness, and belonging that reminded us all just how important these shared celebrations are 💟

The evening brought a truly unforgettable highlight as we welcomed the incredible dancers from The O’Gara School of Irish Dance who filled the room with energy, rhythm, and joy from their very first step. Dancers of all ages took to the floor, from tiny beginners bursting with enthusiasm to experienced performers whose skill and precision were simply breathtaking, each routine telling a beautiful story of tradition, passion, and pride ✨

It was so much more than a performance, it was a heartfelt celebration that brought everyone together through music, movement, and shared joy. The clapping, the laughter, and the shining faces around the room made it an evening we will treasure for a long time to come, perfectly capturing the true spirit of St Patrick’s Day here at St Katharine’s 🤩

This week, we shared a truly special and emotional moment as we wished Shannon a happy and healthy goodbye before she begins her exciting new chapter. As she prepares to welcome her beautiful baby boy very soon, there was so much love and happiness in the room as everyone came together to celebrate her 💟

To mark the occasion, we hosted a lovely baby shower filled with laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories. Residents and staff enjoyed a variety of fun games, with the much loved nappy game bringing the most laughter as everyone guessed the mystery contents and reacted with priceless expressions 🤭

There were plenty of delicious snacks and refreshing drinks to enjoy, along with light-hearted games like pin the dummy on the baby, keeping the atmosphere cheerful and full of smiles. It was a wonderful afternoon where everyone could share in Shannon’s happiness and create lasting memories together 🎉

We send Shannon all our love and warmest wishes as she prepares for this incredible journey into motherhood. She is going to be an amazing mummy, and we cannot wait to meet her little one 💟✨
