🎄✨ We’re getting ready for Christmas at St Katharines Care Home ! ✨🎄

This week we’ve been busy spreading festive cheer with some fun and creative activities.

🍫 Chocolate Bark Treats
We made delicious chocolate bark—so simple, yet the perfect Christmas gift for the chocolate lovers in your life! Decorated with whatever sweets we had on hand, these treats were as fun to make as they will be to share. 🍬🍫

💌 Handmade Christmas Cards
Our residents also put their creative skills to the test making Christmas cards for our upcoming Christmas Market. From colourful paper and ribbon to glitter and simple markers, each card was lovingly crafted and completely unique.
It was a relaxing, sociable afternoon that brought everyone together—and there’s something truly special about a handmade card that you just can’t buy in a shop.

St Katharine’s is feeling very festive already… and we can’t wait for Christmas! 🎅✨

We love our fur babies, whether they’re real like Rosie or life-like companions like Ken’s ALL Companion Pet Cat, which feels and sounds just like a real cat! 🐱💖

But they’re so much more than soft fur, soothing purrs, and gentle meows. These special cats respond to petting, hugging, and movement just like the real ones we know and love—without needing any special care or feeding. Yay! 🤩

Kindness comes in many forms, often appearing in the small, quiet moments we might overlook. It can be a warm smile offered to a stranger, a patient ear for a friend, or a simple act of generosity when no one is watching. Sometimes it’s the courage to show compassion in difficult situations, or the willingness to forgive when it’s easier to hold onto anger. No matter how it’s expressed, each act of kindness — big or small — creates a ripple of positivity that can brighten someone’s day and inspire more kindness in return.

We were gifted a beautiful flower arrangement that had been part of a local couple’s wedding ceremony. It was the perfect opportunity to get creative and make small posies to hand out to staff and residents in celebration of National Kindness Day. 🌸💛

🎵 Remembrance Music Day 🎵

We decorated the communal areas and main reception with heartfelt tributes — poems and decorations in memory of the brave soldiers who gave their lives for us. ❤️

Our residents joined Tina and Charmaine in choosing which posters to create and where to hang the English flags and army nets, bringing their wonderful ideas to life. 🌹

In the afternoon, Charmaine led everyone in a sing-along of wartime favourites, followed by a lovely spread of sandwiches, tea, and cake — a perfect way to share memories and gratitude together. ☕🍰

🎆 Guy Fawkes Night! 🎆

We had such a great time (and plenty of laughs!) making our very own Guy!

It’s clear to see that our housekeepers do an outstanding job as we couldn’t find a single old newspaper to build him with! Since we had no plans to burn our Guy (he was destined to sit in reception and greet our visitors), we borrowed some clean bed sheets and got to work instead.

Ethel was especially keen to help hold everything in place, chuckling as she said, “Ooh, he’s taking shape!” 😄

Exploring the history behind Guy Fawkes also gave us the chance to reflect on an important moment in time and even sparked some lively conversations among residents about today’s government!

Our Guy proudly sat in reception for a few days, greeting everyone who came through the door. How talented are our residents? 👏🔥

🎨✨ We put our artistic skills to work, creating several wonderful pieces of art while enjoying the spectacular display on TV. It felt as though we were painting the night sky itself, turning the darkness above into a beautiful canvas of wonder. 🌌💫

🎃 Halloween Fun at St Katharines Care Home ! 👻
Halloween has been a wonderful opportunity for us to bond as a family and enjoy some quality time together. We let our creativity shine by making our own games and transforming our home with spooky decorations! 🕸️🕷️

The highlight of it all was our fantastic Halloween party, filled with tasty treats, fun games, and fabulous costumes. 🎭✨ The live music from Charmaine brought even more energy and laughter, making it a truly memorable celebration for everyone! 🎶🧡
