Today we’re proud to celebrate Kerry on her 1-year anniversary at Powell Funeral Service.

In just twelve months, Kerry has built something truly remarkable—steady, dependable, and deeply valued by everyone she works with. It brings to mind the construction of the Empire State Building: not just for the scale of what’s been achieved, but for the precision, care, and consistency required at every stage to reach something enduring.

Kerry’s contribution over the past year reflects exactly that kind of foundation—strong, reliable, and built to last. We’re grateful for everything she brings to the team and look forward to what the next year will add to what she’s already created.

Congratulations, Kerry, on this milestone.🎉🎉🎉

There is something deeply moving about the tradition of standard bearers at a funeral. They stand with quiet pride and respect, representing service, loyalty, and a life well lived.

We were honoured to care for a true gentleman who proudly served in the Royal Air Force, and to see this important part of his story recognised in such a dignified way.

At Powell Funeral Service, it is a privilege to help families say goodbye in ways that feel meaningful, personal, and full of respect.

Our funeral director, Tim, had the honour of walking alongside John, Standard Bearer for the RAF—a moment that reflected both remembrance and gratitude for a lifetime of service.

A direct cremation doesn’t mean a lower standard of care. With Dignity, your loved one will rest in a local funeral home and be looked after by our professional team - exactly as they would be with an attended funeral. The cremation also takes place at a local crematorium, never far from home.

With prices from £1,899, planning ahead can offer both simplicity and peace of mind.

Earlier today, our funeral director Tim had the privilege of conducting the service for a lady who held a deep love for the local countryside. With her family’s kind permission, we took photographs of the beautiful surrounding landscape that was so close to her heart.

As we head into the weekend, we invite you to honour this special lady by taking a walk in your own local countryside and enjoying the natural beauty of the world around you.

🎨 World Art Day 🎨
Art and funerals might seem worlds apart, but both share something deeply human — they help us process emotion, tell stories, and remember what matters most.
Art captures life in colour, shape, and imagination. Funerals, in their own way, honour a life that was lived — reflecting love, memories, and meaning. One celebrates expression, the other reflection… yet both connect us through feeling.
Pieces like A Funeral by Anna Ancher quietly show how art can hold space for grief — not just documenting a moment, but helping us feel and understand it.
Today, on World Art Day, take a moment to appreciate how creativity helps us understand life — and even navigate loss. Whether through a painting, a song, or a memory, art reminds us that every story leaves a mark.
🖌️ Celebrate creativity. Remember meaning. Honour life.

If you happen to come across one of our bouquets out in the community, please know it’s there just for you 💐
Take a moment, take a breath, and if it feels right, take it home.
Whether it brightens your day, reminds you of someone special, or simply brings a little comfort, we hope it finds the person who needs it most.
You’re welcome to keep it, cherish it, or even pass it along to someone else 🤍
A small gift, with a lot of meaning.

At Easter, we’re reminded that even in life’s most difficult moments, hope is never lost.

For many families, this season can be a time of reflection, remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. Yet Easter brings a gentle message of renewal, light after darkness, and the promise that love endures beyond loss.

As funeral directors, it’s our privilege to support you through grief while also helping you honour the life, memories, and legacy of those you hold dear.

Today we’re celebrating Dean on an incredible milestone — 9 years of dedication, care, and commitment with us.

Did you know the Lotus Temple in Delhi took 9 years to complete? Just like that remarkable landmark, something truly special is built over time with patience, consistency, and attention to detail.

Dean, your journey reflects those same qualities. Over the years, you’ve helped support countless families with compassion and professionalism, and your contribution has become a lasting part of who we are.

Thank you for everything you’ve given over the past 9 years — we’re proud to have you as part of our team.

Here’s to many more milestones ahead 👏
